"Canelo made it clear to us with Austin Trout that he wanted Austin Trout, and he made it clear to us that he wants Floyd Mayweather," said Schaefer, adding that if Mayweather did not choose to fight on that date, "I'm going to go with Canelo" against another opponent.

"Hopefully, it will be Mayweather and Canelo on Sept. 14. Well, you know, we're going to see in the next week to 10 days how this is going to shake out, and then, we're going to decide what's going to be next."

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Mayweather claims he will return in September and he has not relinquished his JMW belt.

If Floyd fights at 154, he literally has no other options than Canelo.

Literally everyone else who is acceptable for PPV has a fight lined up

Floyd looks big enough now at 147. He can handle Canelo. I think he would beat him,, it is a matter of him having the guts to fight a now fighter who is really on top.

Canelo needs to clean his own division out. He has literally ONE solid fight.

He should be tracking to fight Mayweather at about Mayweather's second from last fight to get a shot at the rematch.

I also think he sunk his own ship by removing himself from the undercard like a primadonna.
