We also know that the 2.4-2.5Million PPVs sold between De La Hoya and Mayweather were all because of De La Hoya and any fighter that would have fought DLH on that day would have generate the same amount of PPVs.

Let's just ignore that with their only common PPV opponent, Shane Mosley, what Oscar De La Hoya sold with a prime Shane Mosley in 2 PPV's, Mayweather did similar #'s with one PPV against a slightly past it Shane.

DLH vs Mosley I and II - 950k+590k= 1.5Mill.
Mayweather vs Mosley - 1.5Mill.

A dumbass thread bud . . . there was never a slick defensive fighter who became the number one box office draw. It doesn't matter where you start but where you end:deal . . . who gives a **** how he got there:bart

 

The Oscar-Mosley fights made Mosley, and bolstered Oscar too to some extent. To use that as a comparison to Mosley-Floyd or even Mosley-Pac is asinine. Mosley was a much more developed image & name by the time of the Mayweather & Pac fights.

And if you want to blame Showtime's subscriber access for the reason for falling numbers, Pac-Mosley did over 1 million views on Showtime. The reality is both Pac and Mayweather were rivaling each other to some degree, creating a bigger anticipation for a potential matchup that never came. That hurt Floyd's numbers in the short-term, but all that can get erased if he makes the super fight against Canelo. People forget and move on quickly. It also didn't help that Guerrero was an obvious non-threat, and a no-name among the casuals.
