I agree. They didn't leverage the CBS arm nearly enough. I didn't even know I had a cbssports channel.
thats a nice thought had he NOT fought RG who is everything you described but 10 times more for not being a reason to fight Canelo :rofl
I saw the fight with about 20+ people. Normally it's between 5-10 people, but I guess people were not wiling to pay for this fight so we just had a big fight party at a frineds house.
This must be a disappointment to SHOWTIME obviously. I am not a fan of Showtimes presentation of Floyd (or Pacman for that matter) They really lack the prestige and grandeur of the event As for this PPV, it was too expensive, it was a **** match up with obvious outcome.
I'd say it's bad for Golden Boy too now since HBO are going to no longer bid on Golden Boy fights. They tied their wagon to a horse that thought it'd make a lot of money on Floyd fights and now it appears they might've lost money, which the rest of the Showtime boxing budget will have to cover. That means there's less money for their other fighters and their cards. The same thing happened with HBO the year of their Alexander-Bradley fiasco.
Ortiz is much more exciting than Robert!!! In the ring and outside of it... I bought the PPV due to Vicious! Victor is one of the most exciting fighters in the game... Void cures insomnia... He has a new edition out.. Floyd-Guerrero- "Get your sleep on" :rofl
they wont be paying him 32 million dollars if his PPV numbers are 300 k-500 k offwhat was projected dip ****!
Do you realy think Canelo vs Mayweather could potentially do any worse than this **** you guys just paid for? the answer is **** NO.... I mean when has Guerrero sold 38 thousand tickets to face an un heard of? He hasnt, 38 thousand tickets is an example of just how big a fight with Mayweather will be and you know it.
****ing MORON once again. before he hand picked RG, there was talk about Devon Alexander, among others, as well as RG.....so if he was a mandatory why was it some giant drama filled months until an opponent was to be named?? :rofl stupid fan boy
***** please... The Clottey that fought Pac would of stomped Roberthoe out! The Same with the Margarito that fought Pac... He would of hurt Guerrero really bad!
It was a comeback vs. someone the media never recognized as a legit opponent, of course it wasn't going to do 1.5M. It was actually one for the purists, Guerrero is a skilled opponent who had plenty to show, it just wasn't good enough, but his determination still made it a show. I GUARANTEE if Floyd-Canelo follows, it will do between 1.5M and 2M. But I think that fight has rounds left in the build-up, Canelo-Cotto would be a nice preliminary for the big one.
Believe me Floyd vs Canelo would be a great fight that I would love to see but its possible that it may not be on the level of PPV draw that Floyd had with past opponents like Mosley,Cotto and Oscar......It should be a guarantee 1million PPV buy generator but I wouldn't feel safe in believing that it could do 1.5 and above being that Canelo doesn't have a PPV headlining card that is proven cause he's never had one, at least not here in the States.
Hope this doesn't cut into Showtimes boxing budget for the year and cut out money for more fights later this year
