Don't mind your punches/upper body movement so much. You seem too tense. Mind your feet and hips. Get your stance balanced and relax your foundation. Your lower body should dictate your punching technique, timing, defense and just about everything else.
I hope this reply posts. I've tried to reply about 4 times over the last few days. Bogotazo- I took what you pointed out and tried to put it to use. Some things that I noted and attempted to do. 1. No matter how hard I try, that right elbow sticks out. The only way I was able to over come this was to lean over it which for a few seconds till I lost it, felt really strong and natural. I had good rhythm, no excess strain on my front arm, and I think good posture. I've got a vid of it that I'll be uploading in a few hours or tomorrow. 2. I worked on sitting into my stance and punches, and I relaxed me legs a lot. However, I keep noticing that when I 'slide' the right reat foot on forward steps that it feels more like a drag. I would take my shoes off, but it's an old gym floor that is very splintered. 3. On jabbing, I took my focus off the movement of my arm and put it on my body, namely hips and shoulders. I feel that, minus my tendency to lean in on punches, I was throwing stronger and faster jabs. I also had this thought the other day that if I could clinch my fist, yet leave me arm relaxed. So I worked on that, I found a better go rate, recoil was still crap, but I was also able to throw more with less fatique. I'll post the vids in a few hours. JDK- Thank you for your input, Ill see if I can ipmlement it.
also on the jab, I noted a strong telegraph with 1. my head movement when I'm throwing 'fast' jabs and 2. my right hand snaps back. any advice on these?
Just practice with a mirror. Shoot from the chin, the fist should get bigger without any tells coming from a flared elbow or cocking motion. Just drill keeping the right hand up.
