Might not mean much but listen to this guy when he clicks who Burns is fighting (not the dog)

Burns will be too fit and strong for this guy. I've watched his clips on youtube and he looks good but so does Mitchell if you watch his ko wins (against better opposition than Gonzalez's) on youtube. Burns will figure Gonzalez out in a few rounds, start dominating, and stop him in round 7 or 8. Gonzalez has been in the ring with fighters no where near the level of Burns. He's going to get his arse handed to him.

Ricky Burns needs to play it safe the first couple of rounds, work behind the jab and go to the body. It's not going to be easy, this guy looks much tougher than Mitchell.

I actually think this is a more dangerous fight than Miguel Vazquez for two reasons.

    1) Chelo is a harder hitter
    2) Chelo is relatively unknown (little footage)

I know the Scots will hype him up, regardless of ranking, purely to make out the fight and the challenge is bigger than it actually is. But I would not be surprised in the slightest if Gonzalez got the W here. This isn't Liam Walsh, a low ranked fighter not capable of beating Ricky Burns. This is a criminally ranked low fighter (shows the rankings up for what they are) very capable of beating Ricky Burns, as is Ricky Burns of beating him.

He can box this Chelo, he can definitely box. Question is, will he still be able to do that against Ricky Burns, when Ricky Burns is in his face, every second of every minute of every round?

I don't expect Team Burns to overlook Gonzalez, not at all, but they dont need to do that to lose this fight. As far as I'm concerned Gonzalez has got a perfect style to cause an "upset" here. I think he is better than people are making out, regardless of opposition. There is definitely something about him like people have said here, his skills and the look in his eyes. He has an aura and he has an aura because I think he has the ability to be an elite fighter, and the Burns fight is exactly the sort of fight needed to take the next step in the Lightweight division. This one will get him noticed if he wins. Make no mistake, this bloke could run this division now that Broner has moved up (like I said he would do in no time)

But the same can be said for Ricky Burns to. This makes for a great fight, there is a lot on the line. More than just a belt.

It could be the case that Team Gonzalez know exactly how good he is, seeing him in the gym every day, regardless of the level of opposition he is facing. They might see this as an easy nights work and jumped at the chance to become mandatory.....you never know.

In the PC Gonzalez says he has watched Ricky Burns. There is more available to see of Ricky Burns than there is of Jose A Gonzalez, that is for sure.

Ricky Burns could also prove his worth by winning this fight. Both fighters NEED to win this fight to prove the same thing, can they cut it at the very top of the Lightweight division?

This is gonna be a GREAT fight between two fantastic boxers. Whatever happens.

Good luck Billy and Ricky hope you enjoy the fight to Bill! Should be a cracka this.

I've no doubt that the Vazquez fight would of been a cracka to, but Vazquez could of spoiled that fight if he really wanted to, with his style. This fight however appears to be two hungry fighters willing to partake in the art and science of boxing.

Really looking forward to it. :happy

    Jose Gonzalez interview added. :good

I'm trying to help promote this fight on ESB. Its going to be a great fight and its not getting enough exposure IMO.

Instead of calling me a knob for talking boxing and breaking down a fight in depth and all the other usual insults that go along with it you creep, why dont you provide a breakdown and prediction for your favorite fighters fight!?!

    Talk Boxing or GTFO. :deal

Getting nervous for this one the closer the fight gets, I see Ricky boxing for the first 8-9 rounds breaking Gonzalez down slowly then stopping him late.

Never heard of this guy. He also has not beaten any guy with a good name. I highly doubt this will be a great fight. Burns just will be on another level. You cant jump up from fighting the kind of guys Gonzalez has fought in to World level. It just dont works like this.

Hope Burns destroys him and proves any doubts i've got wrong .The Puerto Ricans on the scene are rating him .Had times thinking it could be a hard fight for Burns then changing my mind thinking Burns will destroy him .Undefeated Puerto Rican though could just have the athleticism .

I've only seen one 7 or 8 minute highlight video of Gonzalez and he can definitely punch, but he looked very crude, I think Burns wins inside 7 rounds. I can't see the issues with finding footage being a problem, Burns doesn't watch the tapes anyway and in the interview with Billy at the workout in Glasgow, he said he'd had no problem finding videos of Gonzalez.

I think Gonzalez is a poorer version of Martinez, but is still could be risky. Nevertheless Burns on points for me.

Ricky will win because he's better in every dept than Gonzalez, I think Ricky will stop him between 7-9 after breaking him up
