Is Hearn mugging people off with PPV price

Absolutely bonkers. Close and contested first fight which was a war. It could go either way with a possible Froch stoppage. I could see either being dominant on the cards too. When you get two talented, skilled and well conditioned fighters then you've got a fight on your hands.

Ward is still the man but that doesn't mean this isn't a superfight. There are only 4 defeats between 2 fighters who regularly fight at the highest level. Kessler has been mixing at world title level for nearly NINE YEARS and Froch has been doing the same for over four years.

They've fought before, Kessler could hide behind the win and the fact it was in Denmark but he is doing it again and coming to Frochs backyard.

This fight is PPV but other than that it should be everything we want in boxing. The best fighting the best in a 50-50 fight. At the very least Froch and Kessler LOOK like fighters. How embarassing is it when your mates see a fat Chisora or Fury and automatically think anyone could box as they don't look like athletes.

 

I like Froch and have always thought Kessler is a terrific fighter.Youre not telling me anything I don't already know.I just think Froch should have dealt with Stevenson first,then gone for Kessler.Youre preaching to the converted about the conditioning also,even though Fury at least seems to be doing something about it lately.Ill also repeat that I hoped we weren't gonna have pay per view.Going back to Stevenson:I know he's moving up,but don't you think him and Froch would be good,say if Carl moved up also?Youre probably gonna think Im even more bonkers,or a troll,but I probably will buy the fight,as I like the idea of Bellew getting another chance.Some of what you said about the main event applies to that one.Never said the Froch fight wasn't a good one either.

 

Big fights should always take precedence over anything else and Froch Kessler is a big fight so any talk of Stevenson, Cleverly, DeGale etc should be put on hold.

PPV is the kick in the gonads but in terms of competition, this is the fight that has to happen. Also, because this could lead to another big fight in Ward - Kessler/Froch II.

“As I said, it is every fighter’s ambition to be a pay-per-view fighter, but the policy is not to just get pay-per-view back in. If the fights are big enough then you can bring it in, if it is not then just continue to build, build, build. David’s on Sky to make that happen, but not in the first fight — for me the only pay-per-view fights out there for him are either Fury or Klitschko.”

“Froch and Kessler is a freak fight that comes around once in many years, especially in the U.K., so when we signed David people came out and said it would be another pay-per-view, but it isn’t — what I’m saying is that pay-per-view should be for something very, very special. Haye on normal Sky Sports will do massive numbers, and that’s paramount to what I’m trying to do on Sky.”

 

We will see what happens with the next Froch fight...

 

i think its worthy of ppv compared with most over recent years. At least you wont be getting ripped off, compared with most of the naz fights, Khan v Salita & the Fraudley v Haye farce.

 

We heard all this **** before - great fights like Lennox Lewis v Vitali but the standard always drops to any British fighter fighting for a world title including Haye, Khan and Hatton where most of the fights were shyte.

No fight is PPV 'worthy'. Fights are only on PPV because the promoter/tv channel can't afford the purses without it.

 

Ridiculous for Hearn to say that if Brook beat Alexander he wanted Brook vs Khan on PPV. Joke.

 

Even on paper a Lewis v Vitali fight shouldn't have been PPV. Vitali was a "robotic, untested" last minute replacement who people expect Lewis to ease past.

Of course a rematch definitely should have been.

I don't believe in PPV fighters, but PPV fights. Froch v Kessler will be PPV entertainment but its not worthy because they're basically fighting to call themselves number 2 in one of the lesser prestigious traditionally divisions in boxing.

The only fights of recent times I could really say merit PPV are Mayweather v DLH, Mayweather v Hatton and Pacquiao v Mayweather had that happened. Maybe Haye v Wlad deserved it too.

Every other PPV fight has been a big star in the ring with someone they're expected to beat handily.

 

Well that's not so good. The product has to be of a reasonable standard.
But my point is that in boxing terms the UK has it pretty good, and should be prepared to step-up and support the cause. Is 18 pounds really such an injustice to watch two 'warriors' taking part in the hardest sport in the world???
