If Floyd Lost to Canelo How would it affect his legacy!

    A lot of fans, especially Floyd detractors want to see Floyd fight Canelo, because they say he needs to face a "real challenge". Canelo is not as smart as Floyd, not as fast, not as accurate, not as skilled, but he's 172lbs on fight night or a light heavyweight, whereas Floyd on fight night is 150 or 3 divisions lower at jr. MW. Its clear that some people are hoping that at 36, he's slipped enough where his age combined with Canelo's tremendous size advantage would be enough to beat him. But what would that prove. It would like Floyd fighting Rigo. We know Rigo is highly skilled, but Floyd is just physically to big for skills to matter.

    So based on the facts, how would an old, past prime Floyd be viewed, if he lost to a much bigger world class opponent at this stage in his career?

    It wouldn't mean ****, but even at 36, Floyd has enough left to school cinnamon.

    Not as much as if he lost to Pacquiao but of course it would affect him. I think most people would be shocked if Canelo would beat May and take his "zero" from his record. Especially since Canelo is young fighting arguably the best P4P fighter of this era.

    Canelo is too big, obviously floyd is a better boxer but i dont expect this fight to happen.

    it would hardly expose floyd lol. hes fought the best all the way up from 130lbs, as a new fighter you cant cherry pick your fights to the top (although alvarez is doing a good job :p)
    seriously though i think there is also a huge risk for alvarez in this fight he hasnt fought anyone even close to floyd in terms of ability. his boxing CV is mainly filled with no bodys and past their prime fighters.

    Means nothing. He's a 30-35 ATG and is 36 (Past his prime). What he does now will only enhance it. Beating Canelo will probably bump him a few spots.

    It would be similar to when Ali lost to Spinks or when Ray/Duran lost to Camacho

    really depends on how he loses. If he loses by a close ud then it won't really affect his legacy. But if he loses by a knockout, then people will question his greatness a little bit.

    Well it wouldn't help it. Saying it wouldnt mean anything gives canelo 0 credit. Floyd is P4P#1 so yes it does mean a lot.

    Depends on how Alvarez won and what Alvarez did with his career afterwards.

    As of right now though. If Mayweather lost to Alvarez it means Mayweather at 36yrs old couldn't defeat a guy like Alavarez who was what 13yrs younger and 20pds heavier.

    Yes theres a risk he might get schooled, but he has a die hard mexican fan base and he syoung so he could easily bounce back after floyd retires

    Well not fighting Alvarez would hurt as much as help. He failed to face his contemporaries like Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Maravilla, and Pacquiao when at their peaks. Baldomir, Judah, and past their primes DLH and Mosley won't cut it. He gets my respect for beating Corrales and Castillo in the rematch because they were in their BEST form.
