Does Floyd's athleticism / speed cancel out Canelo's size?

    Lets start the debate.

Theoretically both of these guys would get on the scales above 147 and below 154, fight night weights would be much different!

    But to who's advantage?

A lot of people seem to have opinions on this so lets hear it.

IMO yes. Canelo doesn't seem to be a consistent enough a pressure fighter for his offense and size to overcome Floyd's speed and footwork.

Floyd's everything cancels out Canelo's size. I firmly believe he would take Alvarez to school.

    Canelo has one fight equalizer.

that's a big strong right hand with KO power.
And it will connect in 12 rds.

Then its going to be shane mosley time, without the gassing.

Canelo's power is over rated, if he had true one punch power he would have KO'd trout, Rhodes, Ndou, and the more highler level fights he face he did not though.

He does have good power, but technically he isn't solid, he fights in spurts too much and I think he is very weak to the body at 154 because of the weight he cuts.

Size alone doesn't mean anything. It's about styles and boxing skills. Floyd's speed didn't cancel out Castillo's size, Cotto's, etc. It just depends how there styles mesh up.

Bogo can you elaborate on this point? I don't feel Canelo needs to be in Floyd's face 24/7 - he'll likely do a mix of pressure and boxing, which is what he tends to do in most of his fights - something Cotto also had success with.

No!!! Canelo should throw hard powerful shots at mayweathers shoulders. and will wear him out. Its not like canelo does not have skills, he surprised alot of us in the trout bout.

it would be an equal fight. floyd is more athletic than canelo, moves better, has better reflexes and blasting speed along plus more boxing knowledge on his side. canelo in the opposite, is stronger, can muscle himself threw floyd and his punches are definitly more powerful.

how the fight plays out. floyd moves and canelo misses a lot, but he wont let the frustration completly take him over. he will punch his combinations and some will find his target. sometimes floyd will slow down from his runnings and canelo will try to brawl with floyd, landing not much, but his uppercuts will have effect.

close fight, could go either way. favourite would be floyd, but canelo can pull the upset, just because his powerful punches will slow down floyd. face of mayweather cant be his ultimate target, he has to punch to the stomach, solar plexus as much as he can and also try to bully floyd, punch to his arms, punch on the gloves, make floyd feel uncomfartable.

If Floyd can move without gassing he wins clear wide UD, Canelo can not even think to box him huge skill difference between them, Canelo can only win via stoppage if it goes to cards Floyd wins it thats sure, only think that can trouble Floyd is Canelos size.

Floyd's skill as a boxer is going to cancel out Canelo's size. His speed and athleticism are the least of Canelo's problems come fight night.

He is the biggest threat due to him able to hit Floyd hard enough to possible get a one punch ko but in terms of skills... He is not even close to ready.
