If you go to a pub with Sky Sports it should have a little pint glass logo in the corner, that means they're paying for the sky package that lets them show it to the public. If it's not there, they don't

most pubs have some kind of dodgy satelite for the football these days and they usually show the boxing.

 

A lot of the time it isnt even illeagal. Im not going into detail as it got me a ban last time but people are led to believe something that is not true.

 

I know they do but it's not legal. You asked, and no, it isn't legal to just bring your own skybox down the pub and put something up for a hundred people to watch that they want each of them to pay for. Those type of public licenses are a lot more expensive. If your manager wants his pub shut down and a massive fine if it gets reported (Sky haven't gotten where they are today by letting people steal connection you know) then by all means go ahead.

 

I know quite a few pubs that have been done for having the red dot instead of the pint glass. These are free houses taking a risk which they can't afford if they get caught usually too. As for the foreign feeds, thats a can of worms after that woman went through courts with Sky over it in her pub if I remember right. Not sure what the score is with that right now.

 

What the lass in the pub did is a bit of a grey area. It is a bit like the bars in Greece etc showing sky sports. Sky are clear on it that doing what they are doing is against their rules. You cant register a box/view card in the uk then use it abroad. Nova sports which the land lady subscribed to as far as I know have no such rule. The problem with that was the money,the channel is not free to air,the signal is there but you are paying to decode it and then give it public viewing. That creates a problem.

It's the Euro union, you dont have to buy TV from a UK provider in the UK, just like you can use a dish to get for example the haye wlad fight from germany at home , free to air and pay no PPV

you may still need some kind of public broadcast license but you sont have to pay those crazy fees to private companies, they dont own the airwaves in Britain

 

Seems the Premier League were looking to get round losing the court case to the Portsmouth landlady by selling their rights on a singular European basis but they didn't in the last round of deals did they? So Sky are still on a sticky wicket right now on this score especially with BT Sport likely to be 80% cheaper than Sky for pubs from what I've been reading:

im not doubting the morality Girlfriend ,however ive been in loads of pubs with the foreign dishes and not one has ever been shut down as far as i know ...

 

In a nutshell, paying through Sky in a pub would cost a lot more than £15.

 

I remember speaking to a landlord and he told me you get fined but nothing comes back and that the amount of money he makes from showing the games + saving on paying Sky far outweighs that fine.

Plus half the times i would watch Spurs games there would be police (on duty) in the pub watching lol.

 

You cant steal a sky connection as such. Try getting by videoguard,99 times out of 100 someone is paying.
