And they would get their asses kicked by a mixed martial artist 9/10 times. Due to mma being close to a street fight, and the mm artist being better prepared.

so 9/10 fights have a trained mma fighter? How many times out of a 10 will there be a trained combat JJ man in the fight ripping out eyes and breaking fingers??

Real street fight = 2 average shlubs, majority of the timeprobably drunk, slugging it out until one drops from a punch, or they fall from exhaustion from throwing 'punches'. If they fall down, it's usually stopped, or a huge brawl ensues. THAT happens 9/10 times in the bar or a party (places where you see street fights). I have yet to see a corner clearing brawl in a UFC, which is what resembles a REAL street fight.

Do I think a highly trained mma fighter (arbitrarily ranked 6) would beat a "6" boxer in a street fight? If it's on grass, most likely, as long as he doesnt let up if the other guy taps. But the boxer could still catch him coming in. This is with NO outside inteference or weapons, and it cannot leave the fighting area (sounds like an organized fight).

MMA is of course more practical for self defense, as boxing is included in MMA (boxing, judo, JJ, all martial arts), but the VAST MAJORITY of people in streetfights,if they try and use an Eastern Art, it's usually because they just saw a Jackie Chan movie the night before.

I hope I'm explaining my point, because I know it's valid. Street fights resemble shitty boxing. That's why boxing is closer to a real fight. The point isnt what is more effective however.

The mixed martial artist is also prepared to fight a specific guy, barefoot, with a cage surrounding him. Sport martial arts (Sport JJ, Karate, etc) do not prepare one for a street fight. Throwing punches is instinct (which was my point with the animals), wrapping someone up in an ankle lock is NOT instinct. It must be learned. 99.99999999% of street fights are with people that havent learned. A trained fighter would try and avoid street fights, mma or otherwise, unless he's a hot head. In that case, he'll run into a REAL fighter one day and Karma is a *****

But what, in this totally hypothetical situation which back up your own opinions/prejudices, one man has a magic Unicorn?
