You name one women in the world, the best female MMA practioner as your litnus test. Nowhere did the OP say his girlfriend was Rhousey nor even a purple belt in BJJ. atsch You even state yourself that "the purple belts I roll with would only be held by trained men". Guess what - there are a lot of trained men out there and some untrained men who still can fight better than a lot of MA's. A female BJJ blackbelt stands an OK chance in that position against a competent street sttacker and nothing more. How much training do they do on their back on concrete? The OP asked about street not sport.:deal And what the **** does "actually trained" mean? Guarantee you a 6 foot six 120 kg Islander Rugby player who hasn't trained will still smash your purple belt head into the concrete should he be on top and you linger on your back. Or perhaps bite your ear off as encountered by a BJJ Purple belt in Melbourne unfortunately several years ago - from full mount.
The women could do all the same things, but with training. If the women is out experienced by the male obviously she has no chanceatsch. You do not realize the small degree of strength to do jiu jitsu especially to a street attacker. Concrete wont change anything except the initial slam. At that point nothing helps. If she survives she armbars him. He cant slam her because it isnt sport and she would explosively pop the arm in half a second. Not like in sport were they slowly crank it.
And absolutely not would a rugby player smash in my headatsch. especially if it went to the ground he would be sweeped in seconds.
your making the mistake of assuming she HAS to fight the guy and beat him. she doesn't. have you ever tried to get into the guard of someone who doesn't want you there? meanwhile their kicking your knees to splinters. concrete or not, its damn near impossible to somebody untrained in passing.
My IMO your over confident in your indoor training with your ridiculous dismissal of scenarios women face - not you. I am not really interested in what YOU think YOu can do to a 120kg Islander Rugby player. I want to know what an ESB forum member's girlfriend who has not done BJJ is going to do? As a brown belt Judoka when I throw I make sure I give my best. Not sure how good my opponents guard's have been as they seemed more worried about stairs, gutters, glass, rocks, a set of broken ribs from the throw, some elbows in the face and gouging to "sweeped" me.
I must be ****ing confused because I thought the OP was asking about a women street scenario? Did you stop to think why the female is in the street in this position? Did she get blindsided, the male attacker beat the **** out of here and she had fallen perhaps - expecting a world class performance whilst she is fighting concussion? Read the OP for goodness sake. Kicking your knees to splinters? How many MMA fights have been won by that devestating technique? atsch At least female **** victims can content themselves with splintered knee's as the back of their skull fractures against concrete.
yes your very very confused... theres no mention of her being concussed.. there isn't even any mention of punches being thrown.. as a matter of fact theres not even any mention of concrete.. whos to say its not on a grass field when shes out for a run?? besides which who the **** trys to **** someone in the middle of the street anyway?? I suggest YOU read the OP again for goodness sake... atsch and again, she doesn't have to fight TO WIN.. merely to fend off her attacker and escape.
So tell us why is the female in guard or defending with an attacker? Is she paralysed? Did she faint? Did a bolt of lightning hit here? Wake up will ya! Name me when YOU have been thrown hard to the grass lately and for that matter when YOU became female? Terrific that she does't have to win, she can escape. No **** sherlock.
No mate forget about it. you've already made up your mind. this.. explains everything I need to know about your opinion your right... bjj is useless for a girl and biting/fish hooking etc are her only chance :-( atsch
Nowwhere have I stated it is useless for a girl full stop. I gave a slim chance for your average BJJ novice which the OP asked about in a hypothetical scenario which is especially bad for females and you get your knickers in a knot.:deal I base this not just on your selective recollection of my disciplines but on the flip side of the coin experience I mentioned earlier which I will take over your strawman argument.
atschIf a brown belt judoka slams anybody on concrete most likely the fight is over. I have no clue how an untrained women would react. The OP was asking why jiu jitsu would be good for women, specifically if they were on top of them choking them. I said because no matter how strong the guy is he would quickly get arm barred.
How about you wake up. Did you think to look up where guard is?? Its extremely similar to the position the women would be in while shes being raped. Also when she is thrown down she is landing on her back if she survives that the guy would just come down swinging or as OP asked choking her either scenario he would get armbarred had she learned a few years of jiu jitsu.
"practical self defense in the event she gets taken to the ground by a stronger male attacker". Direct quote from OP. Why don't you wake up, read what is actually written and consider possibilities instead of a "this technique works all the time" respondent.
There is no practical self defense if you are unconscious. Rusty is correct. You are just a BJJ hater. If the women became a black belt in judo and then trained heavily in freestyle/greco/folk wrestling then she would be better off since she would be un-slammable.
