Good luck tomorrow Billy. I'm worried now I've watched a few Gonzalez fights. Hope Ricky deals with him in style though. :happy

Have heard a few say Hearn may well have dropped a bollock here. I haven't seen anything of Gonzalez to be able to comment though.

expect ricky to have look early then completely overwhelm gonzalez.the question then is does gonzalez go all out in which case ricky stops him or run in which case convincing points win.personally i feel will stop him mid to late.

shame ricky won't get respect he due even when he destroys this fella but slowly but surely people will come round to the fact how good he is.

I think Burns will take this. Gonzalez is probably his most dangerous opponent in a long time, a far cry from the Moses's of this world. He's going to be very hungry, he's going to take some discouragement, punches well. But I see his arms getting quite heavy even at a limited level, so I'd expect somebody as smart and adept as Burns to see through any early onslaughts and take advantage.

The people who are saying Burns will steamroll Gonzalez are also saying Gonzalez is nothing special and has been fighting nobody's who dont fight back. Those same people are saying the little bit of Gonzalez youtube footage there is, means nothing and is no gauge or sign that he will beat Ricky Burns.

OK then fine, but how can you say Ricky will just steamroll him then if you cant base anything of the videos? Thats so naive. Surely you just remain open minded until fight night, then you'll see? Especially if you're not sure about one fighter, in this case the "unknown" opponent with a 77% KO Ratio?

Saying Ricky will stop him purely because you aint seen enough of Gonzalez but have Ricky, is crazy! It could mean the total opposite for all you know! Gonzalez could shock a lot of people (not himself or his team though) and prove to be a much better fighter than even the bit of footage suggests, equally he could turn out to be utter ****. None of us know until fight night and this is what makes this fight so interesting to me. I'm looking more forward to this fight than anything so far this year.

Can I just say aswell that since Ricky has signed for Matchroom, Eddie has hardly been behind Ricky, thats just the vibe I get compared to other fighters in his stable. Its like he doesn't believe in Ricky Burns himself just yet and is already doubting his new acquisition after seeing Gonzalez at the weigh in and the footage online. This is like the Brendan Rodgers-Andy Carroll scenario.

Thats really telling for me here, as is the fact Team Burns are really taking this dude seriously aswell. Thats professional and out of respect. But I also think it tells you this Gonzalez aint no bum.....and they know it.

A lot of people have doubted Ricky in the past and seen him as a bit of a blind spot. But you'd think his new promoter would be right behind his new world champion especially in the first fight.

I said a few days ago I feel this is a very dangerous fight, everything's quiet, too quiet if you ask me. A fight with disaster written all over it. Lots just expect Ricky winning is a forgone conclusion. But Gonzalez has just turned up to do a job and nothing more. That is the attitude and aura I'm getting from him. No BS, no talk, just come to win the fight, go home. This is his golden opportunity to arrive. His team are more than just confident. 1st fight outside of Puerto Rico, and his team are confident?

This is not Lucien Bute.

Eddie's not confident in Ricky beating Adrien Broner either. :patsch

I applaud Eddie for being honest and consistent, but I find it very weird myself. Surely you would be right behind your fighter no matter what?

I'm hoping just as much as anyone Ricky pulls it of Saturday night and goes on to do great things afterwards. :good

Based on what I've seen and that was 7 or 8 minutes of him knocking people out, he looks very crude and I'd expect Burns to flatten him.

I think Ricky Burns would take any fight seriously, he's too professional not too.

I think the reason Hearn doesn't come across as fully supportive is the way he promotes. He likes to hype fighters up and it helps when they do the same, but Ricky isn't the type to trash talk or bad mouth anyone so he can't go with the approach he uses for other fighters. He also seems to be very 'pally' with a lot of his fighters, especially Froch and Brook and while I'm sure him and Ricky get along well, they clearly don't have the same relationship as Eddie Hearn has with some of his other fighters.

Its Hearns job to build up fights. Pretty much every promoter in history has said things along the line off "This will be a dangerous fight"

Ricky has a good chin, but this guy can crack to the body. We know Ricky is a great boxer but not a huge puncher, this guy has never been stopped and can punch. Is Jose Gonzalez ready to step up, is he for real? I've read reports and comments saying how well does he fight on the back foot? (He looked a power counterpuncher to me)

An exciting fight that I'm looking forward to, looking at the videos online, my opinion is that he hits hard enough to get the job done. :good

Jab, pressure, experience and output from Ricky versus the power and counterpunches of Gonzalez.

I think Gonzalez lands in this fight, body shots to slow Ricky. Ricky to jab and breakdown Gonzalez at distance, building up the points, a no risk approach?

    I cannot wait! :happy

Been saying it for ages, the ones who said Gonzalez crap proved wrong tonight.Ive a feeling they'll be saying he's as tough as Vasquez would've been, after Ricky comes through on points.
