i think his style is made to fight southpaws lead rights of all kinds, left hooks his power shot percentage always seems to be good against them
They struggle with him if anything He has one of the best right hands of all time and has stupid variations on it
Considering what little success southpaws have experienced against him generally turned into one-sided beatdowns from Floyd I think it is safe to say not really at all.
How come back in the day Floyd SR said JR should never fight southpaws? What did he see that JR clearly doesn't cause he keeps choosing them?
You want to decide something (anything) 'once and for all'?.. On an ESB forum ? ****, on the internet ? **** me, you either like starting fights or you're new to this whole internet forum thing.. Sorry my bad...just had a few drinks during the WSB finals and couldn't resist poking my nose in, didn't realise it was a Paid up, oiled up, Pretty boy love fest. Dues, alongside Ward, best current boxer, I just don't like HIM, admire his boxing though..
Guerrero landed a lot of clean body punches. Floyd looks his best with the shoulder roll and he doesnt use that defensive shell very much vs southpaws so he gets hit more than we're accustomed to seeing. Everybody has a difficult time with southpaws. Its just awkward to fight against since you dont come across them very often.
Slightly more problems. Schooling someone as flat-footed and lacking of a lead straight left as Guerrero tells us nothing about his defensive vulnerability to it. He can box on the back-foot against fighters who need their rear hands to get off, like Ortiz and the Ghost, because he takes away their right hand well out of the shell. It's not "all" southpaws who ever lived. But the average mobile southpaws will land more often than the average mobile orthodox fighter IMO.
The answer is simply NO. Hell No. First the only (one)that had any success was Judah. Judah one 3 rounds out of a 12 round bout. Add to the fact that he and Floyd knew each other well and had sparred before on a few occasions. Corley another guy that Floyd use to spar with all the time, and Floyd even used him for a sparring partner later on caught Floyd with a shot that stunned him a bit and Floyd back to the ropes and seconds later Floyd hurt Corley and even dropped him and won that very same round. He has faced like seven and has dominated them all. Now how the hell can a man have problems with Southpaws when he has faced 7 or 8 of them and only lost like a total of 3 to 4 rounds. Guerrero didn't win 3 rounds in that fight. He won the 12th bc Floyd gave it to him.
Mitchell wasn't really a special fighter and he walked Floyd into some big shots while following him around the ring. Jesus Chavez also touched him up. Wouldn't call it a domination. Emmanuel Augustus/Burton had a lot of success switching southpaw. Competitive until the end. He fought another in his second fight and gave him trouble, but it was his second fight. He simply gets hit a bit more. It wasn't an invented myth. It may have been exaggerated, but there's a reason it came about.
Augustus certainly won rounds, at the very least he won the 8th. I can't remember if Mitchell won a round, but that's not the point, he walked him into some shots you don't normally see him take. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/webroot/animatedgifs/650944_o.gif Chavez fought a competitive fight, as you say. It points towards more back and forth with southpaws.
