Surprised nobody has mentions this yet, but IF Gonzalez broke his wrist in the 7th round why fight till the end of the 9th and then quit? Surely do what you did in round 8+9 (nothing) for the last 3 rounds and you've still won

I wouldn't mind knowing what the scorecards were when the fight was stopped.

Rematch needed!!!! I was warming to Burns before this but, really??? Broner wouldn't even need to break sweat to knock him out.

They would all fight him as he has no heart... boxers with no heart are beaten before they enter the ring

Ok didn't mean moron, just found your post ridiculous.

If Burns was landing shots in the 8th and 9th on Gonzalez when he wasn't throwing anything then fine i could understand how Ricky had taken his heart away but he didn't even land anything on Gonzalez.

If he was losing the fight or getting beaten up i could understand him quitting but he was clearly winning the fight at least 6 rds to 3 after 9 so it's a total head scratcher why he quit? Well i guess that's the difference between a CHAMPION and just a also ran.

BURNS may not have the skills of a top 5 world boxer but he has more heart then them and thats why he finds a way to win so respect to him for that.

Am I the only one who found Gonzalez in those first 7 rounds more impressive than Broner ever has been?

He'll get called a shite bag and *****, but if he really has broken his wrist, he'll live to fight another day. Fighting on with a broken wrist could of seen him take a confidence sapping beating, or career ending injury. End of the day, retired/injured fighters don't get fights, thus don't get paid.

Calling the guy a ***** for pulling out with a pretty serious injury, is akin to calling a footballer a ***** for getting taken off injured in a cup final with a broken foot.

Because surely it should only be stopped if the fighter is in no position to continue?

Which obviously he was as he won the fight!!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
He was winning really easily, Burns hasn't been stopped in like 40 fights, stupid stuff he did there trying to finish so hard and then brawling with Burns for the rest of the round.

    :-(

He boxed unbelievably well. That guy is the new president of the 'who needs him club', could do a bit of everything.

Why no interview with Gonzalez? Could at least give us that. Oh, Sky are too cheap to get an interpreter in.
