Arthur would use his underrated boxing skills to make Scott look ponderous for four or so rounds, then Scotty would start to impose himself and land hard shots to the body. It would turn into a firefight late, with either Arthur crumbling from the sustained pressure and punishment to the body, or with a tight points win for the Edinburgher.
Scott Harrison appreciation is crazy.. Alex was a far superior boxer to Scott and would have gave him nightmares.. Look what Liam Walsh done to Scott Alex was/is 2/3 leagues above Walsh.. Alex had it in him to be one of the greatest ever Scottish fighters but just lacked something when it came to World Level.. Might have been heart or believe but he would have beat Scott in the same way he beat Ricky Burns!!
How the hell do you think Alex was superior to Scott, what is this based on? he got ****ing handed a world title and lost it on his first defense against Nicky Cook. Scott was unlucky not to get the win against Walsh and this was a Harrison that had not fought in seven years, should have got the nod imo but thats what english judges are like! Prime Harrison would beat Arthur worse than Gomez did.
Davie sorry to disappoint you but I trained the two guys at the same time and I can honestly say the few times that they sparred Scott always got the better of the spar. Please remember AAA beat Ricky when Ricky was only 22 and 10 or so fights behind him, I agree Alex underachieved in his career but he was a excellent fighter who chopped and changed trainers like nobody I know.
Alex should have stuck with you Billy, as i remember it was his "back" that stopped him making the drive through, personally think he couldnt be ****ed travelling.
I think your right, the worst thing was I found out by reading it on a newspaper stand in princess st whilst on a trip in Edinburgh.
Sparring is different to being in the ring you of all people know that Billy.. Alex had Ricky's number and should have moved forward with his career. There is reasons why he didn't and possible it will be change of trainer etc. both Scott and Alex liked to Bully fighters but Alex didn't seem to like it back as much as Scott did. Alex had the better skills that Scott IMO and would have won on points. (Might be wrong but my opinion) As for Scott being unlucky against Liam Walsh lets be serious he lost fair and square. Scott was my favourite Scottish boxer back in the day but end of the day but people on here make out he was like Mayweather and that distorts the truth.. He was a good World level operator same as Burns is now. Scott never made it to that elite level unfortunately I hope Ricky does!!
Again Davie the gulf between the the two in sparring was massive so to say in any way a fight would have been different is so wrong, apart from the fact AAA would have been getting hit with 8oz gloves and getting hurt more
