How would Khan fare against Romanov, in a couple of months, do you think?

    I thought Yuri Romanov was superb tonight. Jon did land some decent shots, but Romanov was unfazed and simply walked Jon down, which isn't easy. His own punches were very sharp and accurate. The cut was probably a blessing in disguise, Thaxton simply couldn't cope.
    Should Amir challenge Romanov? Not yet. I know some of us want Khan to take on better fighters, but not Romanov.

    Yeah...Thaxton is not going to do anything big from now on...

    What do you think, will Warren put him up against Romanov?

    Tbh, i've always maintained that Romanov is made for Khan despite his power. He fights at a slow pace and I dont think he'd be able to handle Khan's speed and size advantage.

    Jon, IMO, made that fight into what it was. A simple mauling. Khan, or most decent euro level fighters wouldnt allow that kind of punishment. Jono diving in and playing right into the hands of the counter puncher - making it easy.

    Another thing is that Jon is old and lacks decent movement. He tried to play a kind of game which Romanov may have struggled with against a younger, quicker fighter, in that he tried to force him on to the back foot - but it just wasnt happening as Thaxton just doesnt have that in his locker at that level.

    BTW, Romanov does deserve credit for a professional performance but he could improve his work rate.

    give romanov credit for beating an old out of retirement thaxton.. i dont think he could have stopped thaxton early in his career, hatton couldnt.

    i still think khan would beat the **** out of romanov

    Hmmm...I agree; on the other hand, I'm very unconfortable knowing that he might get a world title without having faced a puncher...doesn't sound right...doesn't look good for his long-term prospects, unless by the time they're forced on him as mandatories, he'll be good enough and experienced enough to deal with them...

    But year, if I were Warren, I'd avoid Romanov too...

    But...does Romanov need to match Khan's speed to win? Why can he not win by being outboxed and just catching Khan when he's offbalance...hard...

    Too true. Won't be straightforward for either and, of course, anything can happen. :good

    I reckon, though, just on the balance of probabilities that it's a fight that would suit Khan ultimately.

    Good fight and definitely a risk. But i think it would be a calculated one on Warren's part if it happened...but will it? Doubt it!

    If he goes after Thaxton, after Khan said he was **** and didn't deserve a payday and after Thaxton got completely outclassed and battered by Romanov, people will laugh at Warren and Khan till the cows come home, and then some!

    Most likely, they won't go for either Thaxton or Romanov. The latter looks just too damned dangerous. If they go for one of them...it had to be Romanov, but why take the risk?:think It wouldn't even be a title fight, and Warren could probably arrange a title fight without having to take on Romanov anyway...no?

    Nah, Khan's next fight Is a WBO eliminator so I don't think they'll fight Yuri.

    Yuri's pace could suit Khan maybe as well kinda a bit of a slow starter at times.

    Suit Khan in the early rounds...but Khan won't be able to stop him by the time Romanov gets going, unless he takes big risks in the process, right?

    what you on about. Not at all, romanov beat thaxton up it dont mean he would beat khan.

    khans much quicker faster hits harder than romanov, khan would of probably stopped thaxton earlier than romanov did...
