Accoridng to Canelo's trainer. Canelo offered him a catchweight and Floyd rejected it.

    :-( Canelo at 147lbs - disgrace.

First this is obviously just a negotiation ploy from Mayweathers team so your reading to much into it.

But Mayweather is the Welterweight champion. He is the No.1 P4P fighter. If people want to challenge him they should challenge him at Welterweight.

Lets remember Mayweather has moved up from 130lbs, weighs 147lbs all year long and on fight night, and has never had a fight at catchweight before......and Canelo Alvarez wouldn't even fight Matthew Hatton at a catch weight......yet Mayweather is the disgrace?

Bollocks Rob. If a welterweight challenges a light middleweight he should do it at 154.

Why can he fight Cotto and De La Hoya at 154 but Canelo has to be 147?

It tells a story on how much PBF respects Canelo. This is all about the money and this fight really needs to be at 154 to really maximise it.

De La Hoya moved up from Super Featherweight. Not a natural Light Middle. Weighed around 160lbs on fight night.

Cotto moved up from Light Welterweight. Not a natural Light Middle. Weighed around 155lbs on fight night.

Canelo is a natural Light Middleweight. Will weight 170lbs on fight night.

I don't have an issue with picking and choosing your fights outside of your natural weight division. When Roy Jones Jnr went up to Heavyweight he faced John Ruiz. Not Lennox Lewis. I still give him credit for beating Ruiz, and don't give him **** for not fighting Lewis.

You think the fight being at 147, 148, 149, 150, 151, 152, 153, 154lbs wouldn't really affect the fight in terms of revenue. In terms of legacy 100% it would.

If you was Mayweather you'd want Alvarez to drain himself down. 147-154, thats 7lbs. Boxing is all about the inches and most tiniest of details, so close, but yet so far. That is a huge difference when you consider the sort of weight Alvarez will walk around with when not training for a fight.

The difference is huge and Alvarez will be weight drained. Meaning Mayweather can take control and dominate a fight against a much weakened opponent. If you ask me, it should happen at the higher weight or mid-way catchweight. Mayweather will win it at any weight, but Mayweather will want to look a million dollars doing it, he will want to take any chance Alvarez has of beating him away before the fight in the ring. Which will be his strength and power, drain that away, and you'll win the fight with ease. But Gaz is right, the fight SHOULD happen at the higher weight. Its not like Mayweather cant do it, he already has done, plus if he did move up and beat Alvarez. It enhances his legacy even more.

Mayweather will win the fight with ease anyway IMHO. But they run boxing, and what they say goes. If Alvarez bites, he is a fool, but money talks, and everyone wants that money fight, regardless of the big possibility of losing it.

    It's a ***** move. Canelo can't make 147lbs, he couldn't even make 150lbs a few years back.
If Canelo is too big then don't have negotiations with him, and concentrate on the likes of Devon Alexander.

If Mayweather makes Alvarez come down to 147 it's not gonna look too clever on him though, although obviously that doesn't bother him. He made a big play about how Pac made Cotto drain himself and so when he fought Cotto he went out of his way to say how important it was that he'd only fight him at a weight Cotto is comfortable at.

Cotto came in on the 154 limit for that and Mayweather was 151. So weight shouldn't be an issue to prevent an Alvarez fight especially given how strong and solid Mayweather looked at 147 the other night; it's not like Mayweather is small at 147.

Once Purdy knocks out Alexander that sets up the unification fight the world has been waiting for.
