Do you have proof of those weights? Or just assumptions? Because I find it incredibly hard to believe that Cotto at light middle weighs less than what what light welterweights Brandon Rios, Mike Alvarado, and Breidis Prescott do on fight night.

Not really. In the past I was a huge Mayweather fan but in the last few years I have grown quite tired of him. He ducked Pacquiao from what I can see. I kind of wish he would just retire.

But he does get to much hate from hardcore boxing fans. His achievements are massively under rated and the expectations put on him are higher than other fighters which I think is unfair.

There seems to be to much of a focus on what a fighter says and the way he acts. Talking about how he is the greatest of all time etc. Mayweathers resume is un****ingbelievable but people try to pick it apart.

If he fights Alvarez at 154lbs great.

and lets be real after he beats Alvarez at 154lbs they would say "Alvarez was never that great. He lost to Austin Trout....fight Trout, Alvarez was not experienced enough"

Then that makes it all the more ok that it take place at 154. Canelo weighed only two more pounds than that when he fought Josesito Lopez. His 172 against Canelo was a career-high weight.

I knew this fight wouldn't happen, Mayweather is a great fighter but he only gets in the ring with fighters he knows he can beat 100%.

He doesn't want to risk the 0, his whole career has been built on it.

He is an ATG but this is why in my eyes he is not top 20. You have to test yourself to be truly great.

expect Amir con and the likes

It's no coincidence that, whilst being the number one guy of the division, not one fight with the below was ever made:

    - Prime Marg
    - Prime Cotto
    - 147 Williams
    - Prime Pac

All of the above were around at a time when he himself was in his prime and the number one guy in boxing, yet all of them were interrupted with retirements, money disputes and drug testing. And now the same could happen with Alvarez - with it being the weight this time. Although I'm hopeful it won't be. I think he will eventually settle for 154. He's probably just trying his luck with 147.

Well firstly, fighters grow into weights. De La Hoya was a fully fledged light welter by the time he fought Floyd. Remember seeing him absolutely dead at 147 against Pac?

I just checked, Baldomir was 162lbs in the ring, Ortiz was more like someone said, Canelo would be a few pounds above that. Not a massive difference.

Oscar started off by winning a 130lb belt, did he ask Vargas to come down in weight?

If Floyd wants to fight Canelo, fight him at 154 or say you don't want the fight as he's too big. Get off Floyd's nuts.

Rico hit the nail on the head. Oh and the jackass who said canelo has to weigh in 154 on fight night? Are you ok? We should change the rules for one fight so floyd can have an advantage come fight night? Most absurd thing I'm heard in a long time.

People's hate for Floyd sees them lose all logic..

Floyd will be around 150/154 on fight night.... Canelo will be near 170 I imagine..

What's wrong with asking both fighters to weigh the same??

Pfff bogus from Floyd if true.

Alvarez barely makes 154 even if he accepts nad drains himself I don't think he can make 147.

I still say they will meet at 154.Floyd would beat him regardless so this is just not helping his case at all.

If Floyd is so desperate to insert a stipulation, it should be a maximum ''in the ring'' weight only - which would be damn hard to police in all honesty.

Saying 147 or no fight is ridiculous, Canelo couldn't make 150 for Mad Matt ****ing ages ago.

He himself ought to be up at 160 fighting blokes his own size.

He'd be drained to **** at welter, and it'd end badly for him. Bashed up and stopped.
