The thing is we don't know just how good Tszyu was. His best win is against Zab. But beyond that we don't know what prime Tszyu could have done against other elite prime fighters who had there head screwed on tight (this where zab gets disqualified.

As for how he does against cotto at 140 is anyone's guess. Cotto was vulnerable at 140, and Tszyu had the power to really test that vulnerability. Would have been a tough fight.

Tszyu wasn't shot when he faced Hatton but it's a fact that he had fought 3 rounds in two and a half years leading into the fight.

    That's not opinion. It's fact.

How many rounds did Hatton fight during the same two and a half year period leading in? Again, as a matter of fact, he fought multiple 12 rounders.

And despite the fact Tszyu was severely underdone going in, Hatton still needed a leg up from the hometown ref to get it done.

Pommie fans don't like hearing that Tszyu was shot when he faced Hatton (which in my view he wasn't) or that he was severely underdone going in (which as a question of fact, he clearly was) because it undermines Hatton's greatest career achievement.

    Speak for yourself, bro.

Anyone who followed Tszyu's career from the amateur days knows how good he was.

He was the Golovkin of his era. The tip top guys who were his contemporaries in the amateur ranks weren't exactly lining up to fight him as a pro.

Personally, I think even the amateur version of Tszyu would have given Prime Cotto all he could handle and then some.

Got caught by Phillips? I think you mean he got clinically dismantled and never even attempted a rematch.

Way to over-exaggerate, I don't think anyone said he would beat Duran.. Duran is too tough for him and would chew him out

    Tszyu had some bad habits
after the Phillips fight he started do what everybody does eating the day of the fight. He did not eat anything on the day of a fight !!!!
In the Philips fight Tszyu did not care about defense did not even move his head. We are talking about a top class fighter who got into delivering hard punches and didnt care about defense. If you didnt know about Tszyus Incredible defensive talent just watch the video on Youtube Tszyu vs Vernon Forrest in the amateurs Small Tzyu outboxing Forrest.

So when Tszyu gets his ass whipped up, the fight is bad because of fouls but when Tszyu wrestles and fouls Sharmba Mitchell in their first fight you turn a blind eye?

Tszyu by Stoppage Ive watched Cotto's at 140 and he wasnt as good as he was at 147.

Ricardo Torres fight ring a bell.

He was Chinny and when losing could get dirty like against Judah.

Some seam to forget Cotto was going life a death with Judah for 6 rounds and was losing until the Stoppage.

We all remember what Tszyu did to Judah.

Prime for prime Kosta. But Cotto would also beat the Kosta at the time Hatton beat him.

Zoo would murder Kneeguel. Fact! However, Zoo loses to a prime Edwin Valero.

I agree with this as like someone stated he had 2 shoulder reco's on his Power Right and in 2 years had fought 3 rounds. And because he had such a huge amateur career at 36 years of age he was not the same as we seen him at 30 years of age.

If anyone wants a good gauge of Prime Kostya watch the Tszyu vs Gonzalez fight on youtube thats the Prime Tszyu I remember.
please take in mind Gonzalez had never been knocked down or stopped in his career not even by Dela Hoya.

  14. Yeah they should stop over rating him, dominating the weight class and standing alone for eight years is nothing to brag about. And not to mention unifying the belts at the division and then defending all the belts for many years is like whatever. I agree with Arcane, it seems so much smarter to base an opinion off of an aging fighters last fight, Arcane really knows boxing.

  15. Tszyu beat all the top guys at the weight class for 8 years, he never ran away or changed weights, he just sat at the top of the hill for eight ****in years, other fighters changed weights to avoid him, with good reason, guy was just plain dominant, had all three belts and fought the mandatories. Did I mention for eight years?
