Why is B-Hop's 1st title defense on ESPN?

They can make room, they still put on garbage. Like Matthysse Dallas, Paulie Broner, Berto Karass (more fun tho) etc. It's an okay defense, the opponent has been fringe top 10 for a while.

  2. An average night for hbo boxing? I suspect both networks are looking for better than average. And that's tv, which is different than selling out a venue. And nobody is paying for it, that's for sure

You saw the very decent numbers, someone still cares. It's because what he's doing is exceptional. You tell that to your non boxing friends, and it gets them asking questions. Though not sure it'll get them to sit through the 12 rounds . But to a boxing fan, it's gotta be interesting

  4. Dumb comparison, some of those matchups had a guy people care about it, nobody cares about Hopkins

I just think relegating significant bouts to PPV and networks such as HBO and Showtime has made boxing a niche sport. This is a good gesture and if the they're smart, it will be the start of a pattern. Good on B-Hop.

I applaud posters like actualboxingfan . He tells it like it is and i agree.

Con man hopkins is a punk and hes boring as **** which is why hes fighting on espn. Lol no one gives a **** about his fights except for the wannabe purists..

Hopkins is a boring fighter period, i dont care how old he is.

Hes a espn fighter.. Ill give my money to charity before i pay to watch his shitty fights. **** him

  7. I'm a boxing fan and I yawn thinking about Hopkins having another fight with another matchup that's boring, most likely not a guy that throws a large volume of punches.

2 mismatches and a pairing of far fringe contenders vs history being made. Whatever floats your boat

  9. B hop is getting credit, haha? Showtime said no. Okay, please please espn I have no other place to fight? Okay Hopkins try not to be so boring as ****, and try not to insult whites anymore you dumb ****. I am pretty sure it went exactly like that.

Hops is a great cherrypicker and any objective boxing fan knows this.

He takes alot of pride in beating these young fighters but those young figjters are all either one dimensional or mentally weak...

pavlik, dawson, pascal, cloud... Ya see a pattern?

Oh, I see. It's about his prejudicial comments.

I was viewing this strictly from a boxing fan's perspective, thinking in terms of the health of the sport and how to reach more of an audience, etc.

I can see where you're coming from though. Carry on.

Tarver and Calz are neither and he faced them both. Who did he miss out that was multi dimensional and mentally strong anyway? The only guy he doesn't seem to wanna face is Ward, and can you blame him at 48? I

Lol. Yeah ok. If it's so easy, why don't other 48 year old boxers cherry pick a champion they think they can beat and win a title? I'll tell you why they don't cause it's not easy to beat prime champions when you are almost 50. I don't care about styles. What Hoplins is doing is amazing. Too bad u can't see it.

  15. I have certainly noticed a pattern in avoiding certain types of fighters. Reminds me of when Roy jones said he was going to move up to heavyweight to fight for the title, and then waited for the exact moment to fight Ruiz, or Super Slow Ruiz. Somehow I respect about 50000 other moments in boxing more, just like most Hopkins fights
