What b-hop is doing is trying to bring more mainstream viewers in that aren't buying ppv. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that.
It about longevity of the sport and ppv has been killing boxing for years.
MMA's rise to popularity is exponential due to the ultimate fighter shows on Spike. News flash their free too.:deal

  2. Slap themselves? They don't give a **** because we don't give a ****, sometimes they are patient because a fighter might have a big upside, deliver great fights, and grow a fab base. Hopkins is 48 and people still don't give a ****, time to tell the guy he has to be put in a fight the network picks, not another fight he picks.

 Of course Roy's HW belt is paper, a vanity belt. It's still an awesome accomplishment. What other guy that started at 154 goes up to win a HW belt?

  5. This guy figured it out, Hopkins is the Santa of boxing, he just wants to stuff our stockings with free boring fights because he loves boxing so much, that's what it is. Yeah I am 48 and I want to start a new marketing campaign to build up to a big fight one day before I'm too old to fight

  6. He doesn't like guys that throw a lot, I notice no rush to fight Cleverly

  7. I rest my case

Isn't he Calzaghe Jr? He fought the real thing.

And for real, anyone ducking Cleverly? I guess, after the job he did on Krasniqi, who wouldn't. The guy is one of the worst champs in boxing, only beaten by fellow LHW "champ" Shumenov

Doesn't matter what the intent is...if he's trying to be Santa or His ****ing Holiness...if it results in more viewership, and a pattern in which more name fighters are available in this manner to the general public, it's a good thing, no?

If this is a one time deal, and it results in nothing substantial. Indeed, it's meaningless.

I doubt it's an ego thing for Hopkins, where he's doing this to boost his own personal brand. Obviously, it's a calculated move in where he as a vested interest in the viability of the sport ,and it's future, as a major partner on the promotion side of boxing.

  10. Okay, I will bite. Yeah Calzahge beat Hopkins ass, might explain why he doesn't want to fight Calzaghe Jr as you called him. I don't think you were trying to make points for me, but you did, good point

I wouldn't call Calzaghe's win over Hopkins an ass beating. Unless we're talking about an extremely liberal definition of the phrase.

Because even Golden Boy can't sell Murat as a good . The next fight will be a PPV as it will be against someone like Cleverly

You must be trolling me. Cleverly? Is he even ready for the Bellew rematch?
