I'm sorry, but, what a stupid comparison. As has already been mentioned and continues to be ingnored:
    • Has Canelo fought at 160 in the past?
    • Has Canelo won world titles at 160 twice in the past?
    • Is Canelo the current 160 WBA Super Champ?
    • Is Canelo the current 160 Ring Magazine Champ?
    • Does Canelo live off the reputation of allowing his lesser opponents the chance to fight at the weight they're comfortable at?
    • Has Canelo been criticising his rival opponents for making people drop in weight?
    No.

Dawson killed himself to make 168, for instance. Scully came out and said he wasn't carrying anything spare at 175, so to make 168 was ridiculous which was why he was unhappy about it form the start. It wasn't 'excess' he was taking off to shift that extra 7lbs.

I don't see such a big difference between Mayweather and Alvarez for this not to be made though. This fight could be made at 154 and if Mayweatehr wants to come in closer to 147 so be it. He's been in fights where he is the biggger and stronger man as well as being the more gifted in the past. So if he wants proper respect it's about time he took a fight that wasn't totally on his terms and in his favour. And after already fighting at 154 he isn't going to look too clever if weight is the stumbling block for this fight.

And it's clearly a fight he wants otherwise he would've told Schaeffer not to waste his time from the start given they can't arse about time-wise with the next fight defnitely in September under this new tv deal.

Let's be honest Oscar De La Hoya might have lost to Canelo but he would have fought him at 154lb. Floyd would probably lose to Canelo so he will not fight him at that weight. The fickle fans of today just love the 0, if you call yourself the greatest of all time prove it.

From what I saw of their last two performances Canelo destroys Mayweather, Canelo clearly beat Trout yet a load of PBF nut huggers tried to make out Canelo lost.

Canelo loses to Mayweather. Even the 154 version that can come in at 170. His reactions aren't quick enough to evade the blistering pot shots, and his stamina is too poor to implement the pace needed to catch and tie Mayweather down.

Thats not really the comparison here. Alvarez wanting a Ward fight at 160 is more accurate.

Who wins would be a debate if the fight gets made but Mayweather's movement and fizz for the whole 12 rounds last time out shocked me. He looked better than ever and I wasn't expecting that kind of physical display. But what everyone wants to see now is a fight where we know he's up against a proper challenge, because as is mostly the case he was the bigger, stronger and obviously more gifted fighter agianst Guerrero. The strength and size would be negated aginst Alvarez and then we'd see exactly how gifted Mayweather is.

I'm of the opinion that this fight should be at 154 or it doesn't happen. Having Canelo down to 147 is a bull**** move, and one that we don't even know is true or not.

    We know a few things:

    - after the Guerrero fight Floyd said that he'd like to defend his 154 title.
    - Floyd would have a massive weight disadvantage in the ring on fight night
    - Floyd made a big show of fighting Cotto at 154 in order to face the best version of Cotto (although we know the real reason).
    - Floyd has criticised Pacquiao for dragging fighters down In weights.
    - Floyd has openly admitted to picking opponents based on knowing they are beatable.
    - Floyd has a healthy financial guarantee for each fight that limit the need for him to fight the most attractive opponents.
    - Caneloaint making 147

In my opinion, what this all adds up to is a typical Floyd move, where what he actually says and does are entirely add odds with each other and the Canelo fight won't happen.he knoews the Canelo fight is a risk he doesn't need to take.

I think he knows that Flat out refusing a fight with Canelo when so many people are talking about it is a bad look, so they'll negotiate, fail to reach a deal and Floyd will stay at 147 and blame Canelo for the fight not happening. Canelo is a big guy and you can't blame Floyd for not wanting to be outweighed by so much, and when he has so much money guaranteed that it makes no sense to take risks I think we'll see him stick to his carefully managed risk averse approach that has been a key feature of his time at WW and above.

    I hope I'm wrong.

If he wants to be world champion at 154, he needs to fight the best of 154 at 154...

    However...

If im floyd mayweather, would I fight canelo at 154? No chance

I didn't say a significant amount but do you think the Mexicans who bought PBF v JMM prefer a catchweight or this fight at WW? The more the deck is stacked towards Alvarez, the more people wanting to see PBF lose will buy. Disagree with that?

Fighting a big physical fighter 22 pounds / nearly 3 weight classes heavier than you on fight night is ridiculous. The only logical way to resolve it is a rehydration clause. The fight at 154 makes sense, have a rehydration clause of 160. As far as I'm concerned that's meeting pretty fairly in the middle.

:huh Didn't know you weren't allowed to 3lbs under...

God forbid Floyd doesn't hit the scale exactly at the weight like say Manny Pacquiao.

Needs to vacate his title then if he is going to duck Canelo at 154lbs.

Supposed to be belt holder there.

That is very poor if true. He knows Canelo only has the size advantage as he certainly isnt a better boxer. The intrigue would be in Canelos size, strength, power and how he enforces that. If he is dead at the weight then he'll struggle to enforce anything.

If Canelo did offer a catch weight which I believe would be about 150-152 then Floyd needs to accept, especially as he has operated at 154 before.
