my dad is afghan/****stani. India and I would say 80% of ****stan (with exception to some parts of the north and west) of the country have probably the worst diet when it comes to boxing: high carbs (lentils, rice), and no fresh greens. All their greens and vegetables are either pre-processed high in calories (chickebeans) or fried. Add to that main spices like cumin, garlic, ginger...and you have a dietary nightmare Chinese actually eat raw, boiled, stewed vegetables. There have been a good number of ****stani Olympic boxers during the 70s and 80s, and in Britain a commonwealth or two champion from ****stani descent, but they always crashed in professionals. That and sports corruption in ****stan and India is huge. Good talent has a hard time getting recognized and funded. Type in cricket and bribes to see what I'm talking about (since most people here are British). In fact India had a few up and coming medallers and a pretty solid Olympic team this year, but they had ZERO facilities for the boxers who had nothing good to say about India's athletics board. Really sad how SOuth Asia washes away its talent. The entire South Asian mentality is based on colonial supremacy of Britain. Even until today kids take their A and O-levels without recognizing American talent is the most recognized in the world today. That's why you see so many Indian students having to re-brand themselves by taking Masters courses in what they have already studied in the US- because their Indian degrees are not accepted here
To be fair India have a good amateur team, with the right resources I think they could create a star.
