http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZT0QH3rl_E Goddamnn wonder if he can do that for 12. This guy is a straight up machine gun. I need more training clips from him!! Reminds me of the intensity of pacquiao.
Id be more impressed if there was a 30 sec break and he was back at it again...whats eye catching here is the SPEED...awesome SPEED.
Fans are too easily impressed these days, hitting the bag which can't hit back.I'd like to see him with Santa cruz,Mares & Rigo they'd all likely beat him down or skoool him.
wish he would step up.. so much talent. still, i think Mares being next might be too much of a step up @ this stage. 2 more fights against decent opposition and then let him rip.
No way in hell Mares is next. Mares is the only one who's said that. But apparently Gary's dad and Haymon are plotting to make an example out of him for Russell's coming out party... According to RoundDCgym guy.
There's not a lot of fighters out there that punch the bag with that much speed and intensity... And NO I am not so easily impressed. I watch training videos all day of many different type of fighters. Most fighters don't punch the bag like that, only one that comes to mind is pacquiao. Most of the time I see video clips of fighters that use many variations of technique in the bag. Some others practice combos, others practice form.. GRJ in particular uses intensity and speed much like pacquiao. This is what impressed me, because most of the time I hardly ever see a fighter train like pacquiao. Besides that point.... if his ability to throw triple left hooks in machine gun fashion, throw multiple shots in just seconds and have those same shots come with power doesn't impress you, you must have extremely high standards. This is clearly a speed and endurance drill, he's not trying to use skill. You can obviously see the skills that he possesses when he fights. He has a great arsenal of footwork, defense and countering abilities. But when hes punching the heavy bag he probably solely focuses on offensive speed and power. This technique of him punching the bag obviously works because of the fact he has used this same amount of intensity and power in a real fight.... take a look at :15 seconds when he's throwing a combo on the bag..... that combo is very similar to the one in which hbo did a highlight on pronouncing him as one of the fastest fighters in the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGNenTAX-ts
This is just testing his heart rate surely? Otherwise, there is so much wrong with this bag work, but main points are: 1. Moving in straight lines 2. Lack of fake/head movement moving in to and out of range. 3. Boxing mid to long range only.
