Lucas Wants to Remain at 140

    "I've known him since we were kids, when we were traveling from one town to the other in the back of a truck to fight as amateurs," Matthysse said of Maidana. "And we fought several times in those days. But today that's a fight created by the journalists, more than anything. He is at around 147 pounds, and I don't think he'll like the idea of dropping so much weight. And I am the 140-pound champ; I am not in the mood to go that high up."

    doesn't he rehydrate a good 15-20 pounds

    I thought he said "a" champ at 140 a while ago.
    There is no reason for Matthysse to move up and yes, he rehydrates 14/15 pounds.
    He said he has no problem making the weight and feels comfortable at 140.
    And lets not forget that he has unfinished buisness there. A move to 147 would do nothing for him.

    Doesnt alvarado/Rios do that as well?What's your point exactly,I'm sure he's willing to move up after he unifies the titles.

    If he is comfortable at 140 that is his call. Re-hydration is just one aspect.

    good for him, still good fights at 140 for him, really want to see him fight garcia after lamont (if he wins of course). Not going to count out lamont

    Neither him nor Maidana want it. It's obvious from their interviews .They're friends and I think they would view it as Argentina suffering from one of them losing rather than gaining from the match-up occurring.

    No. He went back up to 153 in his previous fight - which is very normal for a JWW.

    Lucas and Maidana are great friends, the only way they will ever fight is if both are champs and the fight is huge. that way they both make great money.
