As much as i'd like to, i cant really see hunt in with much of a chance here....he struggled with struve a few mnths back,...... sure theres always a punchers chance-but JDS is a smart fighter and will break hunt down i rekon, finishing it on the ground...thoughts?

I also think so JDS chin is decent not great but decent and has has just a huge speed advantage moves well and along with his reach advantage he can probably stay out of trouble. Even though Hunt is in his MMA prime he isn't in his kickboxing prime he was at his beast 10 YEARS ago that's a very long time I think Hunt was faster back then and Manhoef showed that you can crack his chin which is still one of the best but not uncrackable

JDS via being too quick and fleet of foot. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take the fight to the mat once or twice, as well.

I'm a fan of both, so I won't be disappointed either way.

Yes I agree basically with JDS being too much for Hunt. I see Hunt getting banged up pretty good by the end if this fight win loose or draw and I would put some dough on Hunt Loosing, lol, hey anything can happen with a guy like Hunt, not only is his jaw massive but he has some decent albeit rare power in his fists as well. Yes his kicking has a great rep but Hunt can hit decent especially right after being cracked and not wobbling line his opponent thought he would and thus within a close up exchange. However, I don't see JDS being that reckless against Hunt, lol

Hunt is always one punch away, he has very special LASTING, accidental one punch knockout power.

JDS is the longer, and by default we are thinking more mobile guy. Hunt, yeah he seems really slow but he likes to lull guys into thinking that, and then he shows his surprising mobility in spurts which is what has made him such a great fighter all these years.

JDS is vulnerable to a left hook, he's mobile and people tout his striking like it's sliced bread, but he moves straight back a lot and upright with his chin up in the air, his defense is kinda poor in spots.. I think this fight could be pretty darn close lol. Hunt has different power and instincts than Cain. I expect JDS to fight from the outside, circle left and try to drop his right hand. If he underestimates Hunt, he's going to get knocked out.. If he fights very technically he should be able to do something like get in with a jab, bodylock and take the fight to the ground where he will just pound Hunt out.

But, I don't like this fight for JDS standing lol. JDS doesn't react well to getting hit by single hard bombs, and that's exactly what Hunt has in oodles, as well as the ability to finish on top of legendary standup durability.

If Dos Santos takes Hunt down once that is all it will need for Hunt's upper anaerobic capacity to fail.

He cannot fight at the pace Dos Santos sets, couple that with a bit of TDD and defending off the back and he's finished.

Dos Santos can be patient on the feet, or he can mix his attacks and pressure Hunt, i.e. force the pace, make Hunt work in places he doesn't want to.

Junior is very comfortable on the feet, he's from an old school chain of thought therefore I think he'll stand with Hunt and take him out, in doing so he may well eat a couple of shots he doesn't need to, with Hunt's power and punch placing ability he's dicing with a potential disaster but this is what makes the fight an interesting one.

Jr Dos Santos W M Hunt TKO 1 - 4:03 of the first round - Strikes

Man I'd love to see it turn into a standup war. What a treat!

JDS's poor defense, carrying his hands low will get him knocked out by Hunt if it stays on the feet is my guess. :) I think he catches him with a left hook, buzzes him and floors him with his huge right. Then people are going to talk about Hunt's right hand lol. TKO rnd 2 for Hunt on the feet.

GNP rd 1 for JDS if he decides to take it to the ground.

I see Cigano bringing out the old double leg that he used against Carwin. It was pretty fast, either that or using the cage like he did with Mirko (which was a good fight actually and showed holes in juniors striking)

Once Cigano starts swinging and imposing his pace his hands drop down to his waist, and he wings looping shots. He especially likes that looping right hand behind the ear, so strong he doesn't need to really catch you clean. Cigano has a lot of great offense but he gets too single minded. He does it vs. just about everyone he faces including Big country. Hunt isn't a guy you want to leave openings for. Am I the only one who thinks Hunt has a strong advantage at standup?

    :D

No, but JDS has all the physical advantages at this point to take the UD

True. Cro Cop was tagging him with straight lefts all night in that fight. Was a long time ago, though.

i wish hunt wasn't carrying all that lard around with him, he'd benefit so much if he lost some of it.
be great if hunt could utilize his kicks to juniors legs, but he has to get close enough to do it.
he is too slow i'm afraid.

    Heh, we will see. :D

What a treat this could be.

It looks like JDS has a huge speed advantage but he loops a lot of his punches and from range. Since Hunt is the smaller guy he should be able to step inside to land short and powerful. Looking at that footage JDS does look very fast :) but still openings for a guy like Hunt.
