Hey y'all. Before the video, just a bit of background. I"ve done kickboxing in the past (started focusing on it again recently after a focus on other martial arts, grappling) And so coming back, I knew that my kicks were decent. But my hands/footwork were pretty bad in comparison. So yea, if y'all see anything (as I"m sure there's quite a bit) that I should work on specifically (and possibly any drills to focus on said thing?) That would be absolutely amazing.

And y'all can ignore the kicks..haha, I didn't do much but I didn't want to stop doing them completely. But since I'm focusing on the boxing, I did the kicks separately and not in combinations.

    Thanks ahead of time! :D

Not bad, good form, good balance, good stepping into the punches and back out again.

I do notice that you're a bit flat footed at times, particularly your right foot. Stay on the balls of your feet so the pivot flows naturally. Also, try to lean a bit more on the back foot. Easier to get leverage on your shots. Aside from that not much technically to correct but I have some tactical suggestions.

Try slipping and weaving every once in a while and incorporating them into your counters.

Mix up the combinations a bit, attack the body more.

Try not to hammer all of your shots. Your punches seem straight and short from what the video quality allows me to assess, but you seem just a bit sluggish compared to what you're probably capable of. Think quickness, the pop will come with it through the weight transfer.

Overall looking good, especially after just getting back into it, keep it up.

Thanks man! I appreciate the response. My main focus during those 3 rounds was my balance, as I have a tendency to lean forward too much which causes my crosses to be thrown off balance.

will definitely start doing more slipping and stuff during my bag work, thanks!

Honestly, I really wasn't using much power in these rounds, so for you to say that I was hammering them... not sure if I should take it as a compliment to my power, or criticism that I was too tight during the rounds haha

As far as the sluggishness goes... I'll have to film some more bag rounds to look at it, when I filmed this I was getting over being sick (fever, muscle aches...spider bite...) so that MIGHT have caused it, but I'm not sure.

I'll probably film some more tomorrow actually, so If I can film that and post it it might give a better look on that part specifically.

Thanks again for the tips! If anyone else has anything to add, feel free. :D

For me I thought it was pretty good. General Critiques would be predictable pace and fairly sluggish if going at one speed but it was a solid 6 minutes though. Focus on being more calm and relaxed

I'd like to see better posturing in boxing stance you look like an MMA fighter. Personally I'd like to see the power taken out of the shots and focus on faster hands. Another thing i noticed was a lack of variation in combinations. It doesn't hurt to move on the inside and practise those shots. Mix up the variation on the inside and out side more pivot/slipping/jabbing in the transition.

The 1-2 needs some work technique wise but using it quite nicely as an inbetween combo but 1 then 2 is a weapon that needs to be polished though

Bogotazo has give some good feedback, the only thing I'd say is to try and stop being so jumpy. I know, in kickboxing/MMA you are taught to be more like that for throwing kicks and defending takedowns but if you are gonna be focusing on boxing(are you?) then you should try and 'sit down' on your punches a bit more.

Also, your jab looks pretty good but you need to not step in as much when you throw the right. You're smothering your own punch. Try and leave a bit more room. I think the problem is you think you are too far away to land it properly, to make up that extra space you need to torque your hips and pivot more.

Finally, you are coming a little square at times when you circle. Try and stay side on, it makes it harder to hit you.

But it's pretty good mate, especially for a MMA guy.

:D Well, that's what I'm trying to work on. I"m confident in my grappling ability. But I'd rather my standup look like someone that knows what he's doing :good

Thanks! Will definitely work on changing up the pace (and being calmer).

When you say better posturing, do you mean more vertical with more knee bend? Or something else. And roger, will work on more slipping/jabbing. I started adding in Jab only rounds after that video was taken.

Do you have any advice on what technically could be done better on the 1-2? Or is it just the same issue of balance and sitting down on my punches better.

Roger that, will work on being less jumpy...that's definitely a habit from kickboxing/grappling lol.

Well, I want to focus on boxing some yes. But I also don't have access to a straight boxing coach. I take kickboxing from my current coach (who'se a great kickboxer) But he teaches kickboxing, and so the focus is more on kicks and knees/clinch (kick with every combo, more muay thai style)

But since my hands are my weak point (along with my footwork) That's what I wanted to focus on, but I don't know if I'll ever compete in straight boxing. I'm just trying to become a better fighter....though it'll be a while before i'm ever "good" :p

Roger all that, thanks for the advice man! greatly appreciated!.

And I probably won't be getting shoes haha.. at the moment I don't exactly have much money (I just finished college 3 days ago) and don't have a good job yet. And the only thing I"d use the shoes for would be bag work on my own, since we can't use them in kickboxing.
