This one went under the radar but Andy Lee stopped Darryll Cunningham in 1 round last night. Not the best opponent in the world, but not the worst.
Suppose your the latest helmet to register then? Anyway, seen that Lee won but haven't seen any footage. First round stoppage will do wonders for his confidence.
Eh, Cunningham isn't much better a scalp than Fitzgerald (whom he was lucky to squeak by with a W, to be honest - I had it a draw) or even Baby Duran or shot Bunema or such. Really since the loss to Vera half a decade ago, Lee has fought three live bodies even approaching world class: Vera in the rematch, Chavez Jr., and McEwan. Calendar years 2009, 2010 and so far 2013 have proven to be giant wastes for him, just utter voids on his resume. ...and I say all this as someone who likes Andy, hoping that he can make something of his career and do Steward proud.
Pretty much spot on First round win over an ok opponent but will he push on,history tells us no His best performance for me came against a huge and rabid Chavez jnr
Thing is though, Lee is still only 28 years old. If he can knuckle down under Adam Booth, get active plus the fact he'll get regular sparring with George Groves.. he can still go places. I'd like for it to work out for him.
Agree 100% I think his preperations for the Chavez fight wasnt great in the fact that as you say he only fought 3 live fighters. But **** me Lee's flaws are so obvious it isnt even funny. No headmovement, too many single shots, stamina issues and is so wide open to the overhand right its scary.
Lee needs a another stay busy fight but with someone who has a great chin and great heart. It's the only way Booth will be able to guarantee that Lee is able to learn some new tricks. He is not an old dog as someone pointed out so it may just have been in time.
