Will FMJ vs Alvarez (154) be one of the biggest size disadvantage fights in boxing?

    1. He said aside from HW's. (I didn't see that either til I posted)

    2. Agree on Chavez. I wonder how much he outweighed Zbik...

    3. 22 pounds comes from their most recent given fight night weights.

The thing is guys like Martinez, Pacquaio and Roy Jones when outweighed had power to make their opponents stop and think.

Mayweather doesn't have their type of power. We've already seen him get battered on the ropes by Cotto and De La Hoya who weighed around 165, fighting against someone 9lbs north of that is asking too much of him already.

Biggest size advantage? No look at canelos past 140 pound opponents

Floyd sr said mayweathers really a 140 pound fighter so he fits the canelo opponent stereotype

I dunno, go look up some Broner fights. Dude is ****ing huge fighting at 130, his youth must have helped shed that weight because most guys that size would feel like they were fighting hungover having to cut that much.

No. Gatti weighed 160 but Gamache was 145, so it was only 15lb.

Chavez v Martinez is overrated as an example, the fight was at 160 but wasn't Martinez 170+? The difference was probably only about 10lbs, maybe 15- anything above that and you're just wildly speculating that Chavez has the ability to cut more water weight than any human I've ever heard of, some 15-20% of his body weight.

Let's not forget Chavez actually weighed in at 158lb! Sorry, but without proof I can't accept he had drained down (and was subsequently able to regain) over 30lbs!

You have a link to fight night weights for Marg and Pac? This post should also only apply to small division fighters. Obviously as you go higher and the fighters are bigger, there will be a tendency to have bigger differences.

SRR maxed at 16.5 fighting for the LHW title.

Ding ding sing!!! We have a winner. About time someone got their head out of their asses and realized this.

I think a better question is "tell me the P4P great fighters over the years who came from 130 and fought all the way at WW (or JMW in modern times) that didn't have significant power in their fists and was a great fighter"?

Yeah, but that 168 didn't do him any damn favors.. he was terrible in that fight.

I'm not saying it was all the weight, but that had to be part of his problem that night. He was clearly weight drained.

I could see Mayweather not looking to weight 150 but 148 in order to stay comfortable.
