Good question. I'll go with Moore in this one. Archie would've made Clay pay for his mistakes. Clay was still honing his skills while Moore would've been the finished product. as for the strength issue, Moore was a very strong fighter with a big upper body. No way was the 15 fight Clay stronger. His body was still filling out while a prime Moore was already there. Clay's speed would be a factor but Moore would get to him sooner or later. Moore by decision.

Well, a prime Moore would surely account much better for himself, win or lose. Probably he would lose to any version of Clay, but it wouldn't have ended as their actual fight did.

Ali was very talented, good size and quick on his feet but Archie does everything better than Henry Cooper and Doug Jones and they made it hard for Ali and that old burnt out version of Archie got some licks in on Ali...If Archie was 38 vs Marciano, he was 46 vs Ali...Archie could hand that Ali his 1st loss but a prime Ali beats any version of Archie IMO but not without some rough spots

Cooper would of had to of lost an arm to come in anywhere near 12 stones. As mentioned he was nearer 13 and a half stone for the first Ali fight, a weight that was but for a quarter of pound, officially the lightest he was in his entire pro career.

Cooper did not have a trainer at that time and his own regime led to his losing weight; he later averred that lead was inserted in his boots for the weigh-in and estimated his true weight to have been 12 stone 12 lb (81 kg).

Watch a clip of the way in you can see Ali squeezing Cooper because he couldn't believe his weight.

Clay way too inexperienced to fight the Moore who moved between Lthvy & Heavy and beat good fighters.

If Doug Jones could bully Clay around, and Moore was better than Jones, then Moore would TKO Clay in 6 rds....with Angie stopping the fight to save Clay's future legacy.

Clay would be even on the cards when the Ol' Mongoose fiqures him out and TKO's him.

Moore wasn't prime at HW, he was 38, he may figure out a few slow average contenders, he's not beating a young Clay he'd be a punchbag like he was for the young and smaller Patterson

Stopping talking wank, although if you were trying to be funny:

'Ali squeezing Cooper because he couldn't believe his weight' - Alan Partridge quality mate

    I'm leaning towards this..

Prime for prime, Ali beats Archie. But if Moore is at his best while Clay isn't, it could be a problem.

This. Ali was too green for a prime Moore at that point in his career.
