Pretty disappointing numbers. I was expecting it to do at least 1 million. Showtime has got nothing on HBO, it seems.

 

Pay per views are priced in GB less than half of a Mayweather PPV fight as I thought.

Why Haye made relative peanuts vs Chisora. Although he did make 22 mil USD vs Klit. Probably why he ran the whole fight. In it for the pay day

 

I'm chalking it up more to the lack of a fight with Pac looming than the network or opponent. That fight was always there, just out of reach, but it could have been the biggest thing in boxing since the 80's and people kept watching both of thems fights thinking this one could give us a clue about who wins it when it happens.

Now Pacs been beat twice, that fights not there anymore, even if it does happen it looks like an easy Mayweather victory, there's no excitement behind the fight anymore, it's just what you get on the night, which is a one sided, boring fight against an overmatched guy.

 

Thanks.....that's about $30 US dollars. ..give or take. I wish we had similar prices for our PPV events. But that price is definitely a factor to why Haye does those kinds of numbers. Being a Heavy Weight helps too.

I don't know how anyone is really that surprised at the numbers? SHO took a gamble thinking their marketing and prime time slots would over come substance.....which is possible (look at the cans they fed Tyson on PPV that people bought) but not easy to accomplish. Floyd and Manny are popular enough to do big numbers but they dont have the drawing power that guys like Tyson and DLH had.

you dont get it cause your stupid. if he does bad numbers then showtime is forced to put on shows people actually want to see in order to keep out of the red. if floyd vs canelo did bad numbers, then that would be bad for boxing.

 

Mayweather can do over 1 million without a star opponent. The boxing public just has to think the opponent poses some sort of threat. Nobody felt Guerrero posed a threat. He doesn't have handspeed, he has average power, and he isn't an athlete.

 

And if a Guerrero vs Mayweather type fight does well in terms of numbers that too is bad for the sport, because now you have a situation where Mayweather will continue to pick and choose who he wants to fight leaving the true fans of the sport to suffer we wont see any fights we want to see happen because he will then have a free pass to do what ever he wants.

I am sorry but that is not what the sport is about, the sport is about the best fighting the best fights that the fans of the sport want to see not fights that fans of a certain fighter are okay with....

here is what gets me though, The Food Stamp Click was bitching and moaning about Pacquiao facing Marquez for a 3rd time, talking about he cherry picked him etc...

Yet they are okay with Floyd fighting Guerrero, Now I can understand why you would pick Marquez for a 4th time especially after the third fight, lets clear the dust here lets make sure we have no question when its said and done....

But to pick Guerrero what does that do for Floyd legacy wise? and what does it do for the fans in terms of entertainment wise? we want to see real matches not advanced sparring sessions
