Boxings super bowl or world cup

  1. People will no doubt call me a naive idiot for saying this but as boxing doesn't have a alternative to the Super Bowl, world cup or even wrestlemania.basically a huge event where people who don't even follow the sport watch as its an event

We are hearing that boxing has slipped from the mainstream and the fighters aren't household names couldn't promoters and governing bodies create a night of champions.there are so many possibilities with every year an annual event held in a different country in a huge stadium sold around the world.

You could have title fights from numerous weights with some tasty 'name' bouts on the undercard.it would be sold to every country and treated as boxings day of the year and carry massive prestige

I understand these things are tough politically but if fans and promoters want
Extra exposure then Innovation is needed

For example an American football ground or an English football stadium packed sold to hbo and sky showing the best handful of fights all on one night is surely a good idea, greedy promoters and fighters could be bypassed

If this is a stupid idea then at least give me a better one

Not a bad idea in principle, but there's so many reasons why this would never happen

No it's not stupid. Iv thought of this idea ages ago but never got round to making a thread on it.

The Wrestlemania of Boxing! Where you get like 5 'big' fights across various divisions.

An imaginary example would be something like this...

    Mayweather vs Alvarez
    Marquez vs Bradley
    Sergio vs Golovkin
    Rigondaux vs Mares
    Broner vs Burns

    All in one card! :happy

The politics involved in boxing is why the sport is suffering.

If you look at the UFC with one man in control the sport has a direction and vision for all to see. Boxing badly needs this.

Nice idea in principle, but it's not going to happen.

'Suck it up', 'take it on the chin', and accept boxing is only going downhill, thus the sport is on an incredible high to what it will be in a decade's time. So enjoy the good, forget about the bad, because it is only going to get worse!
