Why not There Are a lot of worse heavyweights out there,he could put on a few pounds and still be in better condition than some add in his height, skills, experience, chin and he would be a good contender Far better than pianeta, mormeck etc Yeah he is old but look at some of the other active heavys out there, could give don king his way back in
I imagine both Haye and Wlad would knock him out especially if you look at the shots Lebedev was landing last night. Jones has a quality beard but with power Haye and Wlad would bring would see him getting taken out.
I just think he has range,a good inside game just look at those uppercuts, experience, chin, power in both hands and a good jab For me even though he is old he isn't for a heavyweight,I think he could fit In alongside the likes of solis and adamek and makes for a tough fight for Our own Tyson fury Vitali v guillermo would be 2 men past their peak but it would be brutal warfare Now don king has his man back in the picture don't rule it out
Why not man! I can imagine guillermo jones doing the same thing to povetkin IMO! But povetkin will get it from wladimir klitschko regardless! Guillermo jones has one of the best chins i have ever seen! Lebedev is a huge puncher! Most heavyweights would not take those punches and keep moving forward! they would be stretched out cold!
Johnny Nelson was an excellent cruiserweight champion,at the top of his game.Vastly underrated,I think, not least because he doesn't tell people how good he was even though he's got a platform to do so.Also has the ability to take the micky out of himself.Tackled a few far bigger men himself.I thought when they fought,Jones might have just edged it,which to me shows the level of fighter he was.To beat Lebedev in Russia was an amazing achievement. And yes,the heavyweight division isn't great. Not a champion, but a contender.
Thing about Jones is he uses his height and reach well by doing them right hand leads and jabs after exchanges, against someone taller than him he would be completely ****ed
He used to be a decent 154lber, I think it is a stretch to say in his early 40s he can make an impact at Heavyweight, even today's barren division. That said, if I am Jones and one of the Drago brothers wants to pay me £500,000 to fight them, I am putting on that extra 30lbs and retiring in style!
Yes,agree with you mate, but crazier things have happened than what you just said.He showed that he can last the 12 rounds, and I could see him outlasting, say,an out of shape heavy like Arreola and putting himself in just such a position.Cunningham almost did it with what I consider a better man in Fury, and Adamek already had a shot at Vitali. As you say,a barren division.Wish Joshua would hurry up.
