I know to my cost that he is also an excellent boxer patient stalker with real skill not just power and has a granite chin as he displayed against Ajose Olusegun. I knew he was real good before the fight I found out that as good as I thought he was he was even better and believe me that is saying something.

    That's an interesting question.

It's tough because what allows Garcia to be multifaceted is in part because of his size and range. Lucas is a stout 5'6 JR WW who's to going to fight one way and doesn't have a whole of options in how to fight. He also fights within his strong-suit by applying pressure, setting up his power-shots. I actually think within his style of fighting he's more skilled than Garcia. Yes, I would say that.

Lucas uses his gloves, tucks his chin, moves his head a little, and sets up his shots well and has solid timing. Garcia catches punches with his glove, is adept at boxing, stalking, and counter-punching. One one hand Garcia keeps his head stationary a bit too much (But he's great at glove-blocking), on the other hand he probably has superior timing than Lucas. Mattysee also clearly has the benefit of having more power. I could go back and forth on this man.

This is a really tough question to answer. Garcia does have a lot of dimensions so maybe I should give him the edge. Great question, worthy of a poll.

In my opinion Lucas Matthyse is a better boxer, better fighter, better puncher and more durable than Danny Garcia.

his defense is under rated and looking at the slowmo replays, has pretty quick feet as well. i was impressed with how quickly he was able to set his feet to punch. in the exchange of left hooks, matthysse set quick and bam! one things for sure, garcia isnt hard to find and lucas will touch that chin.

After re-watching the fight you could say more skilled, but better boxer is a bit much.

Lucas' grazing punchers hurt fighters so it's easy to understand why he gets overanxious. Man what a left hook was that.

I think I might favor Garcia. He's probably going to hit the mark sooner. Mathysse will oblige him coming forward. This will be a battle of chins. Mathysse is definitely smart enough to get inside and make it his fight though.

Matthysse knows how to adjust. He is a good boxer, skills very underrated and his power is awesome!!! Matthysse will knock Garcia out!!! He has shorter punches, quicker, better defense, great stamina, great chin.

he is definitely a world class boxer, if he was matched evenly with any other boxer at 140 in power, he would still be competitive with any of them. but that power is something else. you can block his looping left with your glove against your face and he is still going to stun you.

You would know more than most being Ajoses manager, Matthysse is a bit of a killer

He reminds me a bit of Roberto Duran.

For me it's pretty simple.Lucas used to be far too predictable and came forward in straight lines.
Now he can feign his way in,he can switch downstairs effortlessly and most importantly, follows up his straight rights with accurate hooks rather than wild swings.
    All good in the hood.
