Matthyse I think has heavier hands. I honestly don't think there's been two many junior welters in history with heavier hands than Matthysse. Tszyu had faster hands however, which added to his power.

Tszyu wins, but he'd have box and use defense. The young, reckless Tszyu with little regard for defense has a very good chance of getting banged out by Lucas.

As for which win was more impressive: Tszyu over Judah. Zab at the time was undefeated, and considered to be a future P4P star. Tszyu was suppose to be his coming out party, and going in, not many favored Tszyu.

What Lucas did last in destroying Peterson WAS very impressive though, but quality wise, I wouldn't consider Peterson to be on the same level as a prime, undefeated Judah.

 

That's a fair assessment.

 

The young, reckless KT had Lucas power and 10x more skill. There's no such thing as a young reckless KT unless you're talking about the amateurs. He was a fully grown and prepared champ as soon as he turned pro and far far more impressive than Matthyse.

How soon we forget.

 

No one's debating that Tszyu was a better fighter than Mathysse was. Power is up for debate though.

KT had tremendous power, but a lot of it was based on his timing, and how fast he was. When you combine heavy hands with handspeed, you have a devestating puncher.

Matthyse doesn't have near the handspeed that Tszyu had, but in terms of RAW, natural power, I think he's definitely on par.

Matthysse might not be one of the best junior welters of all time, but he's one of the biggest punchers. Granted, there havent been too many great punchers in the history of 140.

 

I actually think Matthysse is a bad style matchup for Kostya...

But i'm taking Tzyu by UD, but not without some dangerous moments for the former champ.

I'd favor Tszyu to win a clear decision, but if Lucas's jaw is as good as people are saying, he'd be a live dog. Regardless, Tszyu's ridiculous power and sharper punching technique would make Matthysse think twice about closing the gap.

 

Tszyu fought a dangerous puncher before in Ben Tackie and dominated him by movement and superior repertoire of punches.

I can see the same happening here.

The prime Tszyu has all facets of his game going.
