Peterson looked terrible

Peterson reminds me like Kirkland in the sense that they are extremely slow starters and you can get some kd's on them early in the fight.

 

Maybe he just got caught cold.

Some guys wakes up when tagged. Mathysse made sure it does not happen.

 

I havent seen the Alexander fight, but in the Judah fight its a misconception that judah stood up to Matthysse's punches... Matthysse threw only body shots to Judah for the first 9 rounds. Literally by round 9, i remember the stats was like 14 landed shots to the head, 70+ to the body. After his body work, he started going for the head and one of the first hard ones he landed, Judah danced.

To address the OP: I also believe Peterson is a drug dude, and will be terrible from here on out. I dont know why that surprises people when he has presumably just come off enhancement drugs.

PEterson did look terrible actually, as strong as Matthysse is Peterson didn't look interested, seenig the replays of the round 2 KO, that punch grazed his head - I expect a bit more durability. Even before the fight his eyes just didn't have it for me, you knew then this was giong to end in a KO...

Hopefully Garcia v Matthysse will answer some questions or will GBP protect Garcia and duck Matthysse? My bet is they may avoid pitching them in against each other

 

I think Matthysse took his legs away after the first knockdown. Paulie in the broadcast mentioned that it's probably useless trying to run (because Matthysse will hunt him down anyway), and that he was better off trying to get his respect by standing his ground.

I'm pretty sure that if Peterson could have fought on the move, he would have.

Alexander and Judah have a much better defence. Will need to review their fights again, but I think they gave Matthysse less opportunities to land flush. They were much more slippery than other Matthysse victims.

Peterson fought a smart first round and won it by fighting from the outside.

If I were his trainer, after the second round I would have just told Lamont keep your distance, don't do much, just try and get your bearings back even if it means losing the next two rounds. Instead he tries to out muscle and trade with Lucas. Yeah he looked terrible doing it and he got ****ing clobbered. If he had kept fighting from the outside he could have made it more competitive, thats why I think Amir Kahn has a good shot at outpointing Lucas if he keeps the distance, he certainly has the speed but does he have the discipline to keep the distance and not get caught up in a slug fest? Maybe.

Props to Lucas though, those power shots were something else. I mean who knocks down world class fighters with grazing shots?

 

pedersonn got hit with punches in round 2, mainly to the back of the head, and got off his gameplan. the old cliche of everyone has a gameplan till they get hit is the case here. lamont needs to do a better job of keeping composed after being hit. when lucas was hitting him in the clinch, lamont would start getting crazy and wild and start pushing. that let lucas know he was feeling his punches and gave lucas a ton of confidence.

pederson toughness got the better of him last night, he got hit and wanted to hit back and paid the price.
