Do You Prefer Day Before or Day Of Weigh Ins?

I realize many on this board aren't old enough to remember fight day weigh ins. To be fair, my time as a boxing fan has been pretty much split between the two.

    Same Day
Pros: no fighters coming in 20 pounds heavier on fight night, less rumor and innuendo amongst fans.
Cons: fighters being drained on fight day, loss of promotional opportunity.

    Day Before
Pros: huge marketing opportunity, fighters enter the ring hydrated and strong.
Cons: massive weight fluctuations between weigh-in and fight, rampant rumors about weight cutting techniques.

No system is perfect, and I don't see the current one changing. Having two fighters stare off live on ESPN during prime time the night before the bout is huge for the promoters.

But, which system do you prefer?

If you have same day weigh ins the fighters will just be drained on fight night rather than have that extra day to rehydrate. Very dangerous and could jeopardize a fighters health.

Same day would cut down on weight drainers making guys fight at weights that they should be at instead of boiling themselves down to fight at lower weights.

If we moved to same day weigh ins, you realize that pretty much every fighter would move up a division, right?

Outside of a couple notable examples (Chavez Jr. gaining lots of weight, Floyd gaining very little) I think it is almost universal. It would be a re-set.

And what would promoters do to replace the hype machine that is the weigh in?

As opposed to nowadays where a fighter can baloon to 190+ and still fight for a title at 160. Please, stfu and bring back same day weigh-ins.
