Plenty of my mates who only watch the "big" fights are really hyped up for this one and are watching Saturday night - Got a few friends coming over myself 2 who are what I call boxing fans like me and 2 who are casuals who jumped on the Froch bandwagon after Bute

    I think they are...

I'm going into town to watch the fight with my mates who are all barely casual boxing fans (they probably only seen Haye/Khan/Hatton fights). I am the only full on boxing fan of the 8-10 of us going, but everyone can't wait for the fight.

    We are from Nottingham though.

What a night Saturday will be... Champions League final then the big fight! Buzzing!

To an extent. Talksport and Sky Sports have been pushing it so far down people's ears they can't not know about it.

This event is likely going to flop though in terms of buys. The UCL Final is on during the undercard so no one casual fan will buy the show just for the main event unless they're stupid as hell.

The places likely to buy this are pubs and bars who will have the football on one screen and the boxing on the other. Not many are going to buy it and watch in their homes. I pray to the Gods of Light, Water, Earth and Darkness, all the ****ing Gods, that this event flops and the Hearns never attempt PPV again.

I think it's working pretty well, I've got several casual fan friends that are going. They've also done quite well with the hospitality package sales from what I hear. There is a package where you attend the champions league final then travel by speed boat to the 02 arena for the boxing straight after, nice work if you've got deep pockets!

Fair enough, but boxing on Sky is in a precarious state at the moment and if this flopped badly after all the promotion they have given it,I would worry about boxings long term future on Sky.They have cut the budget and given Hearn two years to get the viewing figures they want and if this did really badly it wouldn`t look good at all.I think this will do around 200,000 buys and the fight will lbe good enough to keep most people happy.

Another big spread in the mail again, only ever happens when massive fights are on so I think he is to an extent.

I see what your saying but then surely its up to Eddie to put on better shows on normal Sky, he shouldn't be trying to fleece people paying out for a sub par PPV, when he continues putting on Prizefighters and patchy shows.

What has really pissed me off with this PPV is that Eddie has basically thought to himself, nobody will watch the undercard so I won't bother but I still want their £15 quid, totally ignoring the people that are not going to watch the football they want an evening of boxing.

    Its a ****s trick.

I agree that the reguler sky sport boxing card should be the main thing Sky/Hearn should be looking at and getting stacked shows and viewing figures for those is what should count.I`m going to this and I go to quite a few cards and the undercard is no worse then most of them and probaly better then the last time I went to the o2 for the Groves-Degale fight but I did expect more depth for this with a couple of competative english/Area fights and Hearn should aspire to be more then slighty better then wazza.Im really looking forward to Froch-Kessler which I would hope be quality and hope the casuals won`t feel ripped off by ppv like they have done in the past,The Haye-Harrison fight hurt the sport allot imo.

Froch/Kessler is a good fight no doubt about it but its not certain to be a classic, I can see it being quite scrappy, it just seems odd that Sky and Eddie bring back PPV and have changed nothing that got it dropped in the first place?

If this does well then it will become a regular thing again, the fighters will start wanting PPV money because they know its around, pricing themselves out of fights and it will hurt the sport long term.

I would like to think that society was a bit more sophisticated and hard to get than this, but unfortunately I don't think they are. It really is so easy because they have already been dumbed down and they will lap up all this superhero warrior crap. For most its a movie and they are entertained. It shouldnt have a very good buyrate, but it will and it will because of people who bought the hype who dont know **** about boxing. What people seem to fail to realize is that if you don't want PPV in the future or if you believe that it needs to have more to the card to deserve PPV, then buying this one basically contributes to more PPV in the future, regardless of quality. You need to vote with your wallets. Matchroom will be praying that it does good numbers because that will look good with Sky and Sky may welcome PPV again. Well, in fact they will if there is more money to be had.

Sky Sports Subscribers SHOULD NOT be paying for this fight. Those people already pay extortionate prices monthly. They are taking the **** asking those people to pay more for 1 FIGHT. Because that is all it is - 1 FIGHT. The rest of the card is **** and the support fight is a rematch of a fight that happened a few weeks ago on SS1.

I hope people do take a stand, but I can tell you now that this one will do alright on the gate and alright on PPV. The few will rightly take a stand, but the many zombies will pay up.

I feel they believe the main event is a cut above the ppvs of the past like Khan-Salita Haye-Harisson and Groves-Degale which it should be.I don`t have a problem with this as a ppv but I agree that with this fight being ppv will froch ever want to fight on normal Sky again and I can see Froch-Groves being seen by Hearn as a ppv fight by the end of the year which wouldn`t be right.I do believe Hearn has missed a chance to be seen to be giving more value for money, all it would of took is a couple of more fights on the undercard that could be competive and it wouldn`t cost too much more money to do so.

I don't think Hearn really meant for the under card to be as poor as it is the fights just didn't happen for it and the Brook injury and subsequent Purdy farce have heaped pressure on this event even more than before. The main event really does need to be a classic for it to stack up in anyway from a fans perspective.

In this day and age of PPV, the cards have to justify the price from top to bottom. Not just one fight is seen as acceptable now. People demand 2-3 fights. They are delivering that in the US. The UFC has caused this change with "stacked cards"....Boxing has followed suit in the US, sometimes getting 2 if not 3 TOP fights per PPV.

Why is the UK any different? What happens if Bellew or Chilemba gets a late injury?

here you go with the zombie bollocks again, ffs it's only money...you can't take it with you.

These blokes have got the balls to get in the ring and risk their lives for our entertainment and there's enough people who are happy to see them well paid for it, it's simple really.

I don't know why you get so excited about it all, there'll be loads of free streams available for superior human beings like yourself. Mind your posture whilst you're hunched over the laptop though :yep

If somebody asks me for £15 to watch something, I at least expect to feel like I'm the target audience not just some afterthought, with this PPV I feel like an afterthought, I'm not just a football fan that has tuned in for the evening and will **** off and not bother with the sport for the next 8 months or so.
