Considering the small number of registered professional fighters in Australia you're basically saying that.....hang on a minute, 99%? That's the same percentage of your father's DNA that your mother has.

Fair enough, but to come out and suggest that 99% of Australian fighters are overrated is a stupid comment. For starters who are they overrated by? Everyone has their own opinion on every individual fighter so who are you talking about? Secondly there's plenty of people including myself that wouldn't rate Australian fighters high overall because anyone that has been involved in the sport understands the barriers and issues that Australians are forced to confront when it comes to taking up professional boxing.

Lack of quality trainers, age restrictions, financial support and sponsorship, lack of numbers and quality opposition, our nation's isolation, promotion of the fighter, etc, etc, etc.. all these things play a part in a fighter's development as well as keeping the gifted atheletes in the game.

99% of people know these things.

mate i do appreciate and can understand, thanks for your comments once again fighters arent given oppurtunities to get ahead in this country ausssie champs fighting guys from malaysia for australian tittles who in the world is going to pay 100$ a month on fox to watch that especially in the middle of the footy season mate im all for the game getting ahead and it can. id love just one night to turn on the tube and listen to a fight night without the bull....t commenty who are mates of a particular fighter or mates of a trainer mate it turns people away go to a fight night .it cost on average 50$ to walk in the door a rugby league game admission is only 15$ and if you want a good seat 200$ for a table boxing wont grow like that mate you have to appeal to the general public and once again it hangs itself.. it can grow ,you have to be matching good fights and it is possible to good sponsors on board corporate ones to but just give us a night of honest fights not just one or two on the card and fair commentrary would be nice i hate putting the tv on mute cause of the calling; as an ex fighter myself i have challenged a lot of good cruisers and heavy but cuuldnt get a fight cause everyones worried about there records

    Hi Lefty & Gold Steve,

Just returned from english grammar lessons and learnt how to put a sentence together.

Anyone who has been in the ring, year after year, gone through the training, dieting and copped all the pressure thats involved ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE THEIR COMMENTS TAKEN SERIOUSLY.

Unfit pencil necks with big mouths, small nuts, sitting in the dark in their bedrooms should keeps their mouths shut. Comment all you want it dont mean a thing.

Anyone who wants to have a decent coversation, that isnt concerned with the Queens english is welcome.

Check. I personally feel anybody can speak about anything and their comments can be judged accordingly from there. One of the fundamental things when discussing an issue is being able to understand the point the other person is making, when some dim ****wit such as yourself jumps on a keyboard making a rambling incoherent statement without any punctuation marks and terrible grammar how are we meant to respond?

What you said is an opinion, everyone has an opinion and this is a place to express it, when you come on here talking negatively about aus boxing without making any goddamn sense the only person who is not gonna get taken seriously is you.

So here is my advice to you, stay humble, treat everyone with respect, keep up the readable paragraphs and don't assume things about people you don't know the first thing about.

Personally i'd just prefer you leave, you sound like an arrogant, turd eating little weed.

I'm still waiting for you to explain how you came to the conclusion that 99% of Australian boxers are overrated.

You made the comment, no one else. What has me stunned is that someone that has been in the ring, year after year, gone through all the training, dieting and copped all the pressure that's involved, WOULD HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SLANDER HIS FELLOW PUGILISTS IN SUCH A SHAMEFUL WAY!!!

To state they are overrated is to suggest that they aren't as good as whoever evaluated them. I can't agree with that, in fact if you ask some people what they think of Australia's professional boxers as a colective group I doubt that you will receive any great compliments. Yet if you look at the number of fighters compared to the number of those fighting for a world title you'd find that Austrlia has one of the highest percentages in the world.

My apologies to all the fighters out there...never meant to offend anyone.

My appreciation to the people on this site, youve kept the game alive one way or another. You are right everyone is allowed to have their say, and i will clarify mine.

Full stops or no full stops, the fact of the matter is:

Why does an Aussie title have to be contended by a Phillipino or Argentinian? It should be 100% Aussie.

Aussie fighters can set a standard in the world, which we have done in the past. Some of our greatest fighters like Dave Rayman never took a backward step from anyone. And they got a great following.

C'mon mate lets be serious, not wanting to offend anyone, my views on this are shared by many. Go to a fight night and see the international fighters on some cards and they are way over matched. Its a bit of a joke.

Once again my apologies if I offended anyone who has been in the ring.

Get the **** out of here, in just a few posts you have come across like a 15 year old that knows **** all. eg your thread thinking boxers don't change in skill level no matter what age they are.
