Both Kessler and Froch looked wide open for punches tonight, both men took too many clean shots for my liking. Warriors, for sure.. but they just take too much.
I've never been big on Kessler and today hasn't changed my mind. But I do respect him even more than I originally did (which was a lot), because despite his body giving up on him he still put up one hell of a challenge. He lost 115-113 on my card.
How could you have hated Mikkel? Classy, classy man. Carl fought so much better than first time round, didn't wait till round 7 or so to get started, and really trusted his superhuman stamina, and the jab worked better in the early rounds where Mikkel couldn't tag him. It's the easiest thing in the world to say that Kessler is past it, but still showed flashes of his brilliant best, would have beaten Stieglitz for example on that showing
Kessler showed a lot of heart. However, he showed some conditioning issues I don't recall being there before. Got to give the Cobra credit, he has stamina and pours it on even late. Good performance by Froch and Kessler given the circumstances. Froch shows the desire to win and be champion.
I was a Kessler hater for years but grew to respect and like him during the super 6. The man is a warrior and fought his ass off tonight
Hmm. Scar has made a pro Kessler thread and Zakman has made a glass jaw retraction thread in the same month. I'm just not sure where I am anymore.
