He was in no danger there. He might have taken a few more punches but...... so what. There was no reason to stop that fight.

I will say Cain's overall boxing looks good though.

Not a bad stoppage at all. Every single punch landed, it was over.

Does anyone know if the referees have a list of reasons to stop the fight or do they just think. Hmmmmm he's on the ground now and getting punched... my gut says stop it now.

I'm not clear on these rules.

Basically if you go down and don't manage to pull guard you are ****ed. If you stay still blocking they'll stop the fight if you try to get up and take a few shots they'll stop it.

I think the difference with some refs is if they see the guy making an effort to get up and is in motion, they typically will give him the chance to do so instead of stopping it. Bigfoot didn't go limp nor did he just lay there to take shots. I mean, at least give the guy the shot to get up. if you see he keeps getting clipped and isnt doing anything, then ok. even so, we have seen some brutal beatings with guys eating shots before where the guy gets the benefit of the doubt.

Obviously you'd rather a fight stopped early than late but if a guy is making an effort to stand up he isn't in trouble. If you're hurt and eating shots you won't be able to stand up. Half the time the refs see a guy go down, get excited and jump in.

Mixed feelings about JDS. He looked good BUT he definitely fights like a guy that has no confidence in his own stamina, I think that was a big reason he didn't jump on Hunt in Rnd 1 after the knockdown. Hunt was happy to box with him but JDS will always struggle against a guy that can push the pace.
