I don't reckon that's gonna happen. Warren said Romanov's going the WBA route and the European title was 'a step backwards'. Khan seems to be going the WBO route so if Campbell-Casamayor is happening, that leaves Katsidis & (maybe) Juan Diaz. Katsidis will probably be retained by Golden Boy so the choice for me is either Katsidis in the US later. Or if they're really keen on returning in June, somebody else quicker in Britain. Rules out Thaxton because he'll still be recovering from his cut. *Trawls WBO list* WBO number 5 - Kid Diamond!
Thaxton Romanov Katsidis Then whoever is champ He needs to fight someone who can punch (thaxton) before he fights someone who can punch and box (romanov) before he fights someone who can really punch (katsidis) before he goes after the Casamayor/Campbell/Diaz's of this world
I would have suggested Katsidis but he's taken a lot of shots in his fights (really goes all out like a warrior). If he's still in good shape, then it would be a good fight, but if he's taken too many shots then it wouldn't be right to put him in and have him beaten. Then again, it's his decision to make.
If he really wants to shut everyone up, prove himself - not as a champion - but as a good prospect and potential contender - he needs to fight someone who is of a similar level - Romanov. He loses to Romanov, no problem; no point going for the title before you are certain to be a decent contender. If he doesn't want to prove himself before getting a title shot, he needs to hope Warren will play ball.
why the **** is everyone so intent on 'warren needs to test his chin',im sure he knows what khan is capable of and what he isnt,he's only 21 ffs and nate campbell does not hit very hard and khan would be an absolute stylistic nightmare for him, casamayor khan would be a tighter fight.i think khan needs to go the traditional route and challenge for the ebu title during the summer (even though warren doesn't like this route),if he can take romanov and out box him for long periods he is definatly ready for the step up,people keep talking about him being open,he took about 8 clean shots last night and although against not a big hitter he didnt get staggered, every fighter takes shots,i aint no khan nuthugger but one thing i do know is that most of you on here are g'damn haters.
Khan is very good, and will have a great boxing career. But he's still too young, only 21 or 22 years old. If he racks up too many hard long fights at this early in his career, he'll pay for it later it on. He should fight a bunch of 8 rounders against average opponents, and develop his technique more.
Yuri Romanov. He would be a great test for the classy English based Pakistani man. Romanov is a capable operator who has pop in his fists and good name recognition on English soil.Khan has never faced such a tough cookie up to now.If he beats Romanov he is ready to capture one of the world titles IMO. But.....................Romanov has the skills to upet Khan's apple cart. Thats for sure!
I know you are a big fan of describing everyone according to their nationality, Odo...so let me give you a helping hand. Khan is not an "English based Pakistani". Khan was born in England/Britain. His sort are described here as "British Asians" or "British Pakistanis" or "British of Pakistani origin" or "English Pakistanis". He doesn't just happen to be based in England...he is English, of Pakistani descent! :good
