It seems like it should be fairly easy to counter but partly because of his reach and his accuracy, its very difficult even for a sharpshooter like Kessler. Is his jab ATG?
He starts his jab from the hips, it's slow, and it's always going to the same place Where is this great jab ppl are seeing?
Much like Froch in general, better than it looks. Since he throws it from a low angle, it can be difficult to see it coming, it has some sneaky speed and he usually times it quite well.
Thats the thing, he doesn't throw the 1-2 often. He usually just throws the lead right and then comes in with combos. Thats what throws opponents off, IMO. They wait for him to throw the 1-2 but ploughs in behind the right hand.
It looks easy to anticipate, but Froch has such an unusual and unorthodox style that means he can find angles and shoot from the hip,which I think has a fair bit to do with his superb stamina,as I would imagine even 8oz gloves get very heavy after 8 or 9 bruising rounds.(Hard enough training on bags or pads with 10's) It's certainly not ATG,but it's deceptively effective.
:rofl Hell no. It's good. But nothing amazing. It's quite easy to neutralize. Kessler at times was not only jabbing with him (successfully landing his own), but he also after the third round took it away from him for a while. And Ward from the opening bell did the same thing. Andre Dirrell also countered it during the times he grew the balls to fight back. ****, even Johnson was sending overhand rights above it.
