It doesn't matter. There's the fake, ahem people's, champ with worthless belts---Froch. Then there's the REAL champ who easily beat the people's chump. No confusion unless you believe the belts are worth something.

Belts? I will clear this up. Andre Ward is THE World Super Middleweight Champion. Froch is the #1 contender. Don't waste your time trying to figure out sanctioning bodies. It is a waste of time and will make your head hurt.

Ward still has the WBA Super Belt, doesn't he? If so, it goes like this...

    - Ring Champ: Ward
    - WBA Champ: Ward
    - IBF Champ: Froch
    - WBO Champ: Steiglitz
    - WBC Cham: vacant

That "regular" WBA belt that Kessler was holding up until last night, was downgraded to a worthless trinket ever since the super one -- held by Ward -- was introduced. Just toss that aside and regard the one that Ward is holding to be the real one, and the confusion will be avoided.

Does this mean there could be a regular and interim title too.

Sky seem to be doing their headlines today touting the Froch - Ward II rematch, but I just want to be pedantic and point out the inaccuracies in their reporting. I know its good they have boxing as a headline for good reasons but they could at least get the title holders correct because most people take what they say as fact.

Ward is not WBC champion - As far as I'm aware they wanted him to be emeritus champion but he rejected that and vacated the lot. Sulaiman and his buddys have an eliminator next month , and then his son Chavez Jr will most likely step in.

Froch is not WBA Super Champion - They are leading the headlines saying Froch unified the WBA and IBF belts but as far as I'm concerned the WBA regular belt is a paper trash belt and not a real title. Ward is WBA Champ end of story.

    So basically:

    WBA - Ward
    WBO - Stieglitz
    WBC - Vacant
    IBF - Froch

    Nothing changed yesterday.

For some reason I'm unaware of Wikipedia and Boxrec appear to be indicating Andre Ward has no belt , after being stripped of the WBA overnight it seems.

Are the Froch team trying to erase a beltholder here or what? Ward is WBA Champion on the WBA website I've no idea why various media and websites are listing Froch as sudden WBA Super Champion.

I know the belts mean **** all really but you cant just erase a beltholder through the media....:-(

    yes...
WBA has 3 champs at Light flyweight
    1. Roman Gonzalez as Super Champ
    2. Kazuto Ioka as "Regular: champ
    3. Alberto Rossel as "Interim champion"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_world_boxing_champions

and here is a pic of Ressel with his black and gold Belt. people would be hard pressed to know if he was the "Real" Champ or not
    http://www.sportenote.com/vedi_dettagli.asp?id=15166

and you know whats so sad about this? that Rossel beat jose alfredo rodriguez for that belt and guest what? Rodriguez foguth wba / wbc minimumweight champion kazuto ioka for the vacant wba light flyweight title, the "Vacan" belt that Roman left to become Super champ... what a ****ing mess

    @Mugsy

You mentioned both Wikipedia and the WBA official website. If you look at the WBA Wikipedia page, under the heading Super titles it says:

"If a fighter with multiple titles holds the WBA's title as well, the fighter is promoted to Super Champion".

Also if you look at the WBA official website, under the title "WBA Super Champions" and subtitle "Definition" it states:

"The SUPER WORLD CHAMPION CATEGORY OR UNDISPUTED WORLD CHAMPION was created for those World Champions who hold the title of two or more organizations recognized by the WBA."

So judging by the criteria on both the official WBA website and Wikipedia Froch could be Super Champion as he also holds the IBF belt.

In light of this information I find it strange that you can announce with such confidence that "Froch is not WBA Super Champion" and point to some conspiracy between Froch's team and the media.

Oh I understand your logic. by that same logic "Canelo" should also be the "Super" Champ, but guess what? WBA **** on their own rules and Floyd who does not hold another title on the 154 division is still kept as Super champ and Canelo as unified Champ...

Froch and Canelo are regular champs, unified with paper belts.

    @nicamarvin

Your comment actually enhances the point I was making. How can Mugsy (or anyone) be sure that Froch isn't the WBA Super Champion if as you seem to suggest they basically make the rules up as they go along?

Re-reading what I wrote previously Froch could be "WBA UNDISPUTED WORLD CHAMPION" but I don't remember seeing anyone with that title before. Has anyone had that title?
