This fight could be key to the future of British Boxing and PPV. What do you think the PPV buyrate will be in the UK?

And what in your opinion determines a good buyrate and what would be classed disappointing?

This is the UK only. So ignore worldwide. This is strictly Sky Box Office PPV.

  2. I can't tell without information on previous ppvs which I don't think they release

But if boxnation claim haye chisora snagged about 200 000 then I got to think this fight would have done at least the same due to the heavy promotion

I reckon 250,000 would be brilliant. Less than 100k would be cause for concern.

If they've done a quarter mill and added to that worldwide, PPV will be back for good in this country IMO.

I said it before this fight, this fight could symbolize a change in British Boxing. They needed the fight to deliver for a number of reasons. It could change the face of British Boxing as we know it.

If they smashed it they will grab the ball and run with it again.

  4. I don't care if ppv is reintroduced 3 or 4 times a year if it means attracting the likes of ward or Hopkins for froch. Golovkin for barker and pulev for haye

Matchroom will be a roaring success if they can attract big fights to these shores and so for that reason I hope it was a success

But the fights would have to be selected carefully, this had value written all over it as both are big punchers with good chins

An underpar fight ending in a cut or blowout or a cagey stinker would have people moaning fast which is why he needs a good undercard in case headliner doesn't produce

You say matches have to be carefully selected to avoid cagey stinkers, but also say you'd love it if PPV meant Ward or Hopkins came over here to fight Froch. Well, I've got news for you...

And I highly doubt PPV is needed to attract the likes of Golovkin and Pulev.

Ireland should be included aswell mate since Sky run the show here too. I'd say yesterday done the lowest PPV rate in Ireland I can ever remember. The media didnt seem to give it any attention sadly, very few pubs seemed to get it in either.

Think thats mainly down to Skys greed trying to charge 22 quid for the fight vs 14.95 in the UK. As far as I know it costs pubs even more to get it legally, and with it being the worst period in Irish Pubs ever that probably explains why **** all got it in.

  7. Yeah fair point on ward and Hopkins

But the magnitude of those fights and the fact they are very likely to be distance fights means they are a success anyway

I don't think golovkin or pulev would come to Britain without decent financial gain

They make good money fighting in their adopted homes of America and germany

I don't think that Haye vs. Pulev is a PPV fight to be honest unless one of them has a belt.

Wasn't one of the main reasons this fight was PPV because of Kessler's huge demands? I'm no expert in figures but I would strongly suspect that Golovkin's and Pulev's demands are far less. Plus at the end of the day it's Darren Barker, as if he's ever going to headline a PPV. Who next, Brian Rose?

Sorry my man! I forgot that Ireland was still floating about.

    The UK AND Ireland then.

Still say 250k in the UK will do nicely for Matchroom. It would never match what Tyson Fury is getting on Channel 5, there is no comparison there. But if it does do 250k that'll be pretty good and get the ball rolling again on PPV in the UK.

Bare in mind that Hatton vs. Mayweather did roughly estimated 1.2 million in the UK. :scaredas:

I agree with USA Rob, all will do just alright in this fight IMO. Kessler is a superstar in Denmark don't forget and the fight had worldwide appeal with the US getting on board the ship.

Everyone will do just fine. :good

I still think they will be reluctant to do PPV's and they will do them sparingly, learning from their mistakes last night with a poor card. Fury vs. Haye is PPV worthy depending on the quality of the card. Sky and Matchroom will be all over that! People know who Fury is and people know who Haye is, although some feel burnt from the last time.

That will easily do 500,000-750,000 I reckon. The build up and smack talk will be mega.

  12. Yeah fair enough

My point was that ppv works for me if it means we can get big names
    And big fights in Britain

Barker would have to co headline against rotolo with purdy moving up In weight to battle Brian rose

  13. Haye fury would be mega

Eddies sitting on a gold mine there
Because the public love heavys most sports fans I know who don't follow boxing at all know the pair of them
The trash talk would be off the scale and the fight would do very well worldwide

Everyone was afraid they wouldn't be able to find a stream so I reckon about 5 billion people bought it.

Agreed that fight HAS to happen at some point, I'd be drooling in anticipation of that one. Would want to get tickets though so hopefully the PPV wouldnt bother me.

Although as a Fury fan it would be stupid to have that fight in the next 12 months. Has to be Pulev next and then Wlad.

Hayes actually in a worse position because he pulled out of the Charr fight, is supposedly fighting him again with no date. Vitali is fighting Stiverne and will probably retire, and nobody will want Haye back in with Wlad including both fighters!
