Were both fighters in their primes in their I and II fight?

I think Kessler was past prime when he faced Foch for the 1st time and shot the 2nd time round.

I think Froch was approaching his prime 1st time round and was prime the 2nd time round.

Kessler's prime was back when he fought Calzaghe. He was on the decline when he fought Ward and Froch, and his body was no longer what it was for Froch II. Showed incredible amounts of heart, though. I was expecting him to get stopped but he held it together.

Froch was much closer to his primes for both fights. His in-ring age was/is a lot younger than Kessler's.

Froch is eons ahead of any single win on Kesslers resume.

Why would ppl say that Kessler wasnt prime when he eeked out that win?
Was there a fight against a similar level opponent that I just don't know about? An exhibition win over BHOP?

Who the hell, besides Froch, did Kessler EVER beat to get all this praise like he WAS the top dog at SMW until he slowed and Ward cheated him????:huh:huh:huh

I think Kessler wasn't prime in either.

And I think Froch is def the closest to prime in their first fight, I'd say he was... and Froch in the second fight was the next closest to prime.

A few people cant grasp that fighters in-ring age varies greatly, Morales being a great example of that.:good

You can not evaluate a fighters prime looking at one single piece of evidence, there are many different pieces of evidence and analysis to bring together before you can reach a conclusion. If thats how you do it then fine but to me it suggests a tunnel vision outlook and the inability to look at the question as a whole.

Good shout on Morales. I have to always remind myself that when he got stopped by Pacquiao for the first time -- when everyone regarded him as done -- he was only 29.

Its the one that sticks in my mind the most. Had only recently started watching the sport and didn't quite understand why everyone was saying that a 29yr old fighter was done, boxing is one rough sport thats for sure.

Im not.....Im merely stating the obvious that others seem to be overlooking.......

Where did we ever see Kessler display all his positives, except vs Froch.

I mean, if we take his fight with Beyer......of course he's gonna look like a beast of a puncher. If we look at his fight with Andrade we might say he's a classic boxer puncher.
But only against Froch was he able to put his whole arsenal of skills on display in a win against another A level opponent. And it was a very close fight, debatable even.
He took a better shot in this fight than he's has in others, and he hit harder last night that he had in others. He defended better against Froch than he did vs Calzaghe.
Im not a hater, Im just saying that it's easy for me to say a guy like Wilder is in his prime because he's running thru his competition. But then if he runs into a Magomed Abdulsalamov and gets his **** pushed in.....is he no longer the prime fighter I was just hyping. :think

I'm still surprised at how bad Kessler's balance and footwork was yesterday

Carl has been prime for the last 7 years or so. He is a late bloomer with great longevity. Kessler has been past prime since Calzaghe IMO. He is by no means shot though.

In my opinion, Froch is definitely coming into his utmost prime. With his destruction of Bute and going into unifying his division. Froch is definitely a force in his division at this point.

Mundine, Andrade, Markus Beyer, Green, Magee.
And last saturday Kessler definitely wasn't in the shape as he was when he fought Calzaghe 2007.
