The long layoffs is what hurt Kessler, if he would have stayed sharp instead of fighting 13 rnds in 4yrs I think it would have been a different fight.

Much time has been spent recovering from injuries, like the eye injury and also a hand injury.

Damn, i knew he had not been active but i never considered it to be just 13 rounds in 4 years. So to summarize that is essentially one full fight in 4 years which really isnt good enough and certainly not good enough to stay sharp.

In my eyes, he just fought to a Draw, with a fighter who's considered top 10 P4P by some fans and media outlets and considered #1 contender by The Ring, while being #2 contender himself.

Retire? Lots of fighters need to retire, Mikkel Kessler is not one of them. Kessler isn't getting dominated, floored, TKO'ed, by any one. So why retire?

If any Super Middleweight needs to retire, it's Arthur Abraham. In fact, I would love to see Kessler vs Abraham next.

Froch gives the best version of Kessler a hard fight, but I do agree that the Dane has slipped a bit. That said he's far from shot, that should be obvious.

 That is what made me aware of Kessler yes, i have not been watching boxing as long as some of you guys although i can asure you that ive not liked Calzaghe since he retired having slapped the **** out of Roy Jones and decided to do little else to further his legacy. I dont quite understand the hostility as my intentions with this thread are pure and honest. I have no agenda with it and i'm frankly sick of the amount of posters on this forum who for example dont like fighter B because they were beaten by fighter A because they despise fighter A. It would appear to me that you consider Kessler close to prime because you despise Calzaghe and since Kessler has picked up a few losses its quite convenient that he was never anything big in the first place. Seriously you accuse me of having an agenda but its quite clear the only person having a hissy fit is yourself, im being completely honest in my assessment and dont need to lower myself to your way of thinking. I seriously cannot be bothered with posters like yourself who cant build an argument without resulting to petty insults, i couldnt give a **** about Calzaghe, unlike yourself i judge fighters on their own merit.

Froch is possessed and on a mission to blow people away, especially Kessler.
He fought a good fight to me and i think he has plenty left to continue on.

I was impressed with Froch, its hard to believe that he has found another level since facing Ward. I know we disagree with what point Kessler is at his career so little point in going over old ground, especially since we wont change each others opinion on the matter. .:good

Froch arguably has never boxed or performed better and and was wanting to defeat Kessler with an absolute passion.
Kessler could of got bute'd but he was good enough to make it very competitive.
I think he beats a lot of guys out there and would defiantly want to see him win again.

:good Perhaps im jumping to conclusions, id be more than happy to bump my thread if he managed to achieve something that suggested he isn't shot. I can see a few fighters being able to beat him at this point but only time will tell, i still hope he retires, i dont think he has anything left to prove.

The point was Kessler looked like his better days are behind him. Still has a little in the tank for sure but you have to agree he's not the same anymore

I think Kessler definetely has lost something since the Calzaghe fight...but maybe not as much as many people seem to think. Carl threw almost as many punches as Calzaghe did and Kessler has always struggled when the pace went up...so Carl deserves credit....Kessler doesn´t move as fast in the ring as he used to, but he is more experienced now and his left hook is also something he started using more later in his career. Still I think Kessler needs to quit....with all his injuries I think he has been in enough wars , and there is nothing left for him to prove.
