I'd say Duran's defensive skills fit perfect here. People not in the know might call him a slugger, and the knee jerk reaction of Robertard's is to label him up there with the greatest defensive fighters of all time

Saying a fighter was past their prime when they lose. Most fighters, even the ATG's lose fights during their prime. Simply losing a fight doesn't mean they were past their prime, they just got beat by the better fighter on the night.

Any time anyone counters an argument with "but all it takes is one big punch..."

    Arrgh!

Mayweather is the biggest draw ever because he's made the most money. Mayweather is unbeatable because he's never been beaten.

Why else do you think Shavers retired unbeaten?

Wasn't Dela Hoya a much bigger draw than Mayweather anyway?

    "Fighter x is a cheater"

Contrary to popular belief there's only one rule in boxing:
    1:No kicking

Archie Moore at 24 was lighter than Jones at 24.
Marciano didn't look big compared to Moore, he wouldn't look big next to Roy.

:rofl are you serious? marciano was not large, but he his bones were x3 thicker than roy´s, he was built to carry much more weight, jones was a fragile ***** compared with a presa canario like marciano. marciano was naturally much bigger in frame than moore, moore was a former mw-lhw, marciano trained like mad to make 185 pounds...

I love it; the cliche has come to life in the very thread it highlights...

Morrison has a chin made of the finest china and would most certainly lose by KO to anyone of note even if they were 60lbs lighter.

60lbs difference means nothing when the two fighters are rated as 'heavyweights' this logic however it is asinine if applied to any of the other weights

Max Baer would beat 95% of heavyweights out there "If he was serious"

Boxing has not evolved since it's inception

Dempsey and Louis are death personified in H2H terms

Louis beats anybody if it's the rematch

Dempsey beating Willard and Firpo is proof enough he could take out the Heavyweights of the 80-Present

    Leonard beat Hagler

Does Ray Robinson lose to Mayweather under the same reasoning?

Rocky did always find a way to win. That doesn't mean that it's a good talking point for when he fights someone he didn't fight in real life.

Particularly when they are much more dangerous and Foreman-y than anyone he did meet.

It's cliche because it's repetitive and meaningless, not least because there is a disputable decision on his record.
