Folks, if you think the likes of Ali, Frazier, or Norton would have a chance against Wlad or Vitali, then you are delusional.

 

Norton is so overrated, he'd get kayoed before the 6th round...Norton struggled with Big punchers or larger fighters...all kayo losses...Shavers, Cooney, and Big George

Norton by decision. Vitali doesn't have the devastating power of shavers, foreman, or cooney, so Norton should be able to use his own ability and combos to beat up Vitali.

I love these posts of who would win. IMO Vitali would win on points or even by a late stoppage, would have been a good fight though.

Never ceases to amaze me how many ESBers bring up fighters from the 70s to compare vs modern HWs - especially the K bros. Right now there are more than a few of these "who would win" threads comparing 70s HWs like Ali between Ali & Vitali or Wlad.

Norton, who gave Ali hell in 3 bouts, would get murdered :deadby Vitali. VK is bigger, stronger, at least as fast, and with a much better chin. VK would have no problems w/that crab style Norton used. Besides nationalistic or racist "logic" how in hell does Norton have even a small chance vs VK :-( Only if VK sustained an injury would Norton pull out a win.

For people who start these topics - US dominance of HW div. is over, and has been over for some time. You can bask in the past all you want, but today boxing is much more competitive sport - mainly due to opening up of Eastern (Communist) block.

 

Close decision either way. Probably Vitali.

 

Just to show you how you Shavers' power myth spreaders are out of your mind, Briggs stated the 40 year old arm punching version of Vitali was the hardest puncher he had faced too. Will you believe him because he "should know better since he was in the ring vs him" ? I don't think so. atsch

 

The one thing that Shavers was good at was throwing a HARD punch. I don't think he's the hardest puncher of all time or anything, (and his power is generally overrated) but Norton's one problem was when serious powerpunchers were able to back him up and land on him. He couldn't handle that. The main thing is that Vitali doesn't hit like Shavers, he is more of an attrition puncher.

Briggs took a worse beating against Vitali than Lewis or Foreman, he definitely took more flush shots so that probably contributes to it. :good
