If Vitali doesn't qualify as a "tough guy" in your book, surely you can't think Liston does either, right?
This is an excellent point IMO. Vitali actually made Lewis look small-ish (or at least, short-ish), and Ali made Liston look small - and it was a factor in negating Liston's ability to land his vaunted jab and hook. Now imagine how small - dare I say puny? - Liston would look against Vitali.
Would he necessarily need to have Ali's speed? Even if he's not as fast as Ali, he's still relatively nimble for his size, and he's especially adept at leaning away from, and/or picking off punches from shorter opponents - and Liston would be shorter than the vast majority of opponents that Vitali has fought. Combine that with the fact that Vitali was much bigger than Ali and an even more punishing puncher with either hand. IMO, that all adds up to a very poor recipe for Liston.
HAHHA LISTON WOULD DO NOTHING HERE, 2003 vitali was bigger, stronger, did hit as hard maybe even harder puncher, he had a better chin, he was as fast even when he was much heavier..
it is no truth.. ali was taller.. but liston was the bigger man clearly... his fists were bigger than vitali“s,and liston had longer reach too, vitali was much heavier and taller yes, but ali was not bigger than liston.
